The work of Matrix’s data analytics group, Matrix Analytics, is led by a growing team of members based out of Lexington, Kentucky. Matrix Analytics projects are geared toward integrating hardware, software, and analytics solutions to successfully meet the needs of Matrix’s clients and include work with the international subsidiaries of Matrix.

The Junior Data Analyst assist the analytics team in collecting and interpreting data to help a company take actionable steps to improve their performance and meet goals. Their duties include gathering company information and statistics, building reports to be presented to executives and finding ways to improve a company’s efficiencies using gathered data. As an entry-level employee, the Junior Data Analyst is expected to work as a cohesive member of the Matrix Analytics team.

This position reports to the Head of Analytics: Operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create Dashboards and Reports.
  • Design, build and deploy SQL BI solutions, predominantly using multiple Excel and SQL data sources.
  • Maintain and support data analytics platforms.
  • Prepare and analyse data using R, Python, SQL, SAS, and Excel.
  • Performing quality control procedural checks including cleaning data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Visualization of outputs including developing graphs, reports, and presentations of project results.
  • Finding patterns and trend in data and communicating them to team members.

Qualifications

  • Minimum a bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, economics, statistics, finance, or related fields.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with ETL process.
  • Data analysis.

  • Dashboard creation.
  • Data quality assessment.
  • Data Mining.
  • Research on broad range topics.
  • Motivated and highly driven.
  • Passionate for developing new skills.
  • Ability to work well in a pressured/high pace environment.
  • Experience in transforming and manipulating large datasets.
  • Team player with the ability to support the team.
  • A tertiary qualification demonstrating proficiency in programming/ economics and/or mathematics.
  • Programming, mathematical, and statistical skills.
  • Prior knowledge on R, Python, SQL, or other programming languages.
  • 1+ years’ experience with Power BI/Tableau/QlikView or similar Business Intelligence platform.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Excel including VLOOKUP and Pivot table experience.
