Johns Hopkins, founded in 1876, is America's first research university and home to nine world-class academic divisions working together as one universityThe Department of Medicine is seeking a casual/on-call Research Data Analyst who will provide support in research database development, data processing, data analytics, and computer programming for several projects related to health equity and migrant health. The Research Data Analyst will participate in the cleaning and development of analytic data sets for use by the investigator team. The Research Data Analyst will also conduct data analysis as directed by the investigative team and contribute to ongoing scientific manuscripts and conference presentations. The Research Data Analyst will need to work closely with existing Biostatisticians and other data staff, including core members of the research group, to complete the analysis in a timely manner.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Work in collaboration with scientists and core staff to address research questions related to health equity.
- Assist with database development and management.
- Problem-solve applications of existing analytic tools to specific data analysis projects, including independent identification of problems and initial attempts at solutions.
- Modify existing methods for application to new datasets and types of analyses.
- Document work and data analyses, particularly through organized digital records of data set sources, file locations, and statistical and bioinformatics code.
- Interpret and contextualize the results of statistical analyses.
- Discuss with colleagues, investigators, and supervisors the need for any additional analyses and/or special methodological needs.
- Clearly summarize and present findings at team meetings.
- Prepare written reports of statistical analyses, including relevant statistical theory, references, methods, results, and conclusions to contribute to scientific publications.
- Keep abreast of technical and academic resources related to the methodology of statistical analyses.
- Assist with IRB protocol preparation.
- Effectively communicate work products verbally and through written publications and grant proposals.
- Assist in translating the technical nature of an approach to non-technical audiences.
- Assist in making technical decisions involving the platform and architecture to create and manage transaction databases and their related interfaces (i.e., software applications).
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

- Ability to independently analyze and resolve complex problems.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Sound documentation skills (writes and communicates clearly and concisely).
- Know the applications and tools best suited for individual projects and how to procure them.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline.
- Three years related experience.
- Experience with REDCap, R, or STATA required.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SQL (SQL Server Preferred), PHP, Python CSS, JavaScript, and HTML
- Proficiency in data and statistical learning (regression, ML-based classification or clustering, survival analysis).
- Prior experience in healthcare-oriented research.

Starting Salary Range: $24.35 - $42.71 HRLY ($25.00 HRLY targeted; Commensurate with experience)
