Responsible for curating, reporting, and monitoring data driven insights, identifying trends, observations, and findings, and shaping appropriate recommended solutions to support the strategic and operational management and continuous improvement for Audit & Assurance (A&A) across Africa.

Strategic Impact

  • Improve the COO & CFO’s ability to respond to the ever-changing A&A environment timeously and proactively – by leveraging meaningful insights and observations from data across the various capabilities in the firm.
  • Continue the expansion of the Insights capability to provide the COO, CFO and A&A Exco with meaningful insights to support the strategic and operational management of the A&A Africa business – to provide historical, current, and predictive views of A&A operations with competencies including data analysis, benchmarking, forecasting, and reporting across: Finance; Operations; Quality & Risk; Transformation & Change; Client Acceptance; Legal & Regulatory; Learning and Talent.
  • Maintain and build insightful and concise reporting using Power BI
  • Maintain and oversee all technical and integration aspects relating to A&A Africa’s resourcing platform – Dayshape.

Internal Client Impact

  • Oversees delivery of specific area of expertise to A&A across Africa
  • Contributes to thought leadership initiatives and shares knowledge and expertise with client, service area, colleagues, and teams.
  • Builds strong professional relationships across A&A to understand business needs in area of responsibility.
  • Establishes and maintain professional relationships across the service lines.

Budgets / Profitability

  • Understands the budget and impact of decisions on profitability.

Reporting

  • Act as centralised point of contact for all data and reporting requirements
  • Compilation of monthly reporting packs including but not limited to Financial Performance, Partner KPC metrics, Q&R, Resourcing, and adherence to disciplines.
  • Compilation of data and reports for various ad hoc requests as required by A&A leadership.
  • Create and maintain centralised knowledge and report depository within A&A extending to include all historic reporting and insights.
  • Provide ongoing insight and input into ways in which SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and Power BI can be further enhanced to address business requirements.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvements across all data presentation and extraction platforms.

Business Intelligence, Benchmarking and Trend Analysis

  • Empower and support A&A leadership with knowledge and insights about the operational management of the A&A practice for decision making.
  • Provide insights relating to deviations between the Africa member firm and other firms across Deloitte globally.
  • Identify global trends, recognize, and incorporate best practice improving the precision of insights drawn for future planning and decision making.
  • Proactively source, collect, analyse, and interrogate data, compare to internal, external, local, and international benchmarks and report meaningful findings and observations.
  • Research global norms to derive appropriate internal benchmarking and target setting.
  • Centralise end-to-end monitoring and tracking of processes, people, and clients to support proactive strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Gain awareness over operations through timeous identification of anomalies, critical events, major milestones, and non-compliance.
  • Centralised hub for knowledge, past operational performance, and learnings to use for strategy, future-planning and decision making.
  • Proactively drive continuous improvement in response to business developments and challenges (e.g., incorporate automation in future for real-time analysis and business intelligence)
  • Conduct preliminary research on a variety of topics and draft materials as needed.
  • Compile and report on identified insights, trends, observations, and findings using data visualisation methods such as PowerPoint and BI dashboards.

Ongoing Tracking & Monitoring

  • Ensure privacy and confidentiality of data, information, and knowledge within the Business Intelligence function.
  • Monitor, on an ongoing basis, the status and progress of recommended solutions, initiatives, or actions to remedy identified instances of non-compliance, anomalies, critical events, or major milestones.
  • For continuous improvement, review the list of relevant insights identified on an ongoing basis to update and align insights and benchmarks to the latest business developments, business, and operational requirements as well as local/global standards.

Dayshape

  • Act as centralised point of contact on platform between business and developer.
  • Perform relevant system maintenance as needed to ensure efficacy of business insights and reporting.
  • Drive enhancements on the platform based on insights and driven by specific business needs on an ongoing basis – working with developers.
  • Monitor system on an ongoing basis to identify optimisation opportunities – review lists of relevant reports/insights and benchmark against business developments and needs.
  • Maintain and build reporting capabilities from the platform to drive business efficiency and insights-driven decision making – providing leadership support as needed.
  • Manage administrative tasks as needed.

Ad Hoc

  • Provide project leadership and support as needed.
  • Assist in preparation of materials and presentations for various management meetings.
  • Track COO & CFO’s tasks and projects to ensure appropriate prioritization of projects with respect to deadlines and organisational developments.
  • Complete administrative tasks for the COO & CFO
  • Perform any other relevant duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Will be assessed based on experience and track record.

Additional Information

Experience & Skills Required:

  • Proven experience in a Business Intelligence / Financial Reporting & Analytics reporting function – with a proven track record within the Deloitte environment.
  • Construction of dashboards and commercial analysis using Power BI
  • Advanced MS Excel

Technical Competencies

  • Experience in data mining, data analytics, predictive modeling, and advanced modeling techniques
  • Experience in researching, benchmarking and report writing.
  • Experience in financial reporting, analytics, and insights
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities, including advanced formulae, data modelling and analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint capabilities
  • Advanced visual and presentation skills
  • Storytelling skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to weave a coherent, compelling narrative around the available data.
  • Analytical and data-driven with a demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically.
  • Working knowledge of BI tools and data warehousing
  • Experience in developing, reporting, and monitoring tailored, data-driven insights to support strategic and operational management and business requirements.
  • Experience in engaging, liaising and managing relationships with various stakeholders across the firm.
  • Good business and commercial acumen
  • Working SAP experience across multiple platforms, including SAP S4/Hana, SAP BW and SAP Analytics Cloud
