Our Research and Technology organization is currently seeking a Summer 2024 intern to join the Genomics and Data Sciences Team.

The focus of the intern role is to design and execute next generation sequencing (NGS)-based assays to meet Research needs in Spark. The incumbent will work very closely with a Senior Genomics Scientist and get some exposure to real-world applications of Genomics technologies in settings of gene therapy and drug development. Through the internship, the incumbent will gain firsthand experience with fit- for-purpose experiment design, NGS library preparation, sequencing, preliminary NGS data QC/analysis, and troubleshooting as needed. 

Basic Qualifications

• Must be a current student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited college or university with preliminary training in biomedical sciences and lab techniques such as PCR and gel electrophoresis.

• Minimum availability of 10 weeks (June 3 – August 9th)
• Participation in student organizations and/or other leadership experience

Spark takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training, and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, and external market and internal value when determining a salary for potential new employees.  The base salary range for this position is currently from $53,700-$80,500
