Data Analyst

They are seeking a Data Analyst who is passionate about harnessing data to fuel strategic growth and enhance operational efficiency. As an integral part of the technical team, you will work under the guidance of the Head of Engineering and closely with the Head of Product to unlock new insights and refine data processes. This role offers the chance to contribute significantly to a platform that supports numerous entrepreneurs, by improving the data model and analytics that underpin a rapidly expanding operation.

Location: Fully-Remote (Work from Home), 9 AM - 5 PM EST

Key Responsibilities:

• Reporting and BI Infrastructure: Take ownership of the reporting infrastructure, ensuring it delivers actionable insights to both internal teams and customers.

• Data Model Enhancement: Collaborate with product and engineering teams to refine and expand the data model to support new features and improve scalability.

• Analytics Leadership: Become the go-to expert for analytics across the company, driving the use of data in strategic decision-making and feature development.

• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with various departments to understand their data needs and provide solutions that enhance business operations.

Qualifications:

• Extensive Experience with Databases: Minimum 3 years of experience working with large datasets in Postgres or MySQL, including schema design, performance tuning, and complex query management.

• Startup Enthusiasm: A knack for navigating the fast-paced, evolving startup environment while effectively managing priorities and creating organized workflows.

• Continuous Improvement: A proactive approach towards advocating for best practices and the development of scalable and sustainable data systems.

• Clear Communication: Exceptional ability to clarify complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment and understanding across teams.

Bonus Skills (Not required but advantageous):

• Experience with Python

• Experience with GCP

• Experience with Metabase

• Experience in healthcare or fintech

What Success Looks Like:

In the First 3 Months:

• Establish Reporting Expertise: Assert yourself as the primary expert for all reporting and business intelligence projects. Your role will involve navigating through complex data landscapes to deliver actionable insights that inform strategic decisions.

• Enhance Data Models: Work in close collaboration with product and engineering teams to refine the data model for improved efficiency and scalability. This critical evaluation and enhancement process supports the infrastructure behind a fast-growing operation.

• Data-Driven Feature Support: Provide essential data insights for the development of key product features. Your analytical support will underpin the launch and optimization of services designed to streamline operations and enhance user engagement.

In the Next 6 Months:

• Strategic Data Model Collaboration: Become a vital contributor to the product and engineering teams by co-developing the data model. This collaborative effort will involve introducing new features, iterating on existing functionalities, and proactively enhancing the data architecture to foster innovation and growth.

• Mature Reporting Infrastructure: Lead the expansion and refinement of the reporting infrastructure. Focus on standardizing data practices, optimizing views, and expanding self-service reporting to make data insights more accessible across the organization.

• Database Architecture Refinement: Lead initiatives to standardize the database architecture, encompassing database refactoring, cleanup, and the establishment of best practices. Your work will aim to ensure the architecture supports rapid scaling while maintaining performance and reliability.
