Job Description

To support Engagement Managers in the delivery of services on delegated engagements / projects. 

Specialized Capabilities

• Registering taxpayers for various taxes
• Data wrangling on excel for importation into compliance tool
• Completing and electronically filing VAT returns for taxpayers using the automated compliance tool
• Preparing objections and penalty and interest remission requests to the South African Revenue Service
• Corresponding with the South African Revenue Service on follow ups on clients’ affairs
• Update and use of internal software (local and global)
• Client facing role
• Provide ad hoc VAT compliance services, e.g., tax audits and verifications and high-level advice related to the ongoing VAT compliance services provided to clients
• Analyzing monthly work in progress, assisting with issuing of bills to clients and monthly follow ups with clients to settle invoices

• Tax Laws and Rules - Applies knowledge and skills of relevant practices and processes (or relevant tax rules and regulations) in area of specialization to client problems
• Delivery excellence - Proactively manages client issues, expectations and service level agreements
• Analytical Thinking and Problem Solving - Interprets and synthesizes data, exercises professional skepticism to challenge data, and identifies meaningful insights to develop recommendations that most effectively support a client’s business objectives
• Technology Tools and Solutions - Articulates how technology enables business processes and is able to communicate its value clearly to clients

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience requires

Required

• B Com / Accounting / Programming / Informatics
• A Tax or VAT qualification would be advantageous

Experience

• Accounting/ Finance experience is essential 
• Tax exposure and understanding 
• Previous experience dealing with the South African Revenue Service would be advantageous
• Knowledge of the Value-Added Tax Act and Tax Administration Act
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products — Advanced Excel skills is essential 
• Understanding and knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, ORACLE, other ERP's) on a high-level is a plus
