Job Description

As Environmental Sustainability Assessment Portfolio Lead you will establish a forward-looking and industry-leading system to measure the environmental footprint along the entire production chain of an entire business. You will enable the development of standardized methodologies and automated tools to support such assessments. And you will help to build capabilities within the organization to understand and minimize the impact of our products and services on the environment.

Accountabilities

Close collaboration with teams across the business (in sourcing, logistics, manufacturing) to build an understanding of current and future data needs; tying in the requirements from different parts of the organization into a holistic environmental metrics framework with a common methodology

  • Participate in building the tools and data sources required to automatically track and predict carbon footprints
  • Apply Life cycle analyses thinking and methodology at scale; help create algorithms to improve data accuracy in the lack of primary source data
  • Support corporate accounting and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions quantitative metrics
  • Data analytics and modeling of the entire value chain (cradle-to-grave)
  • Devise new processes to define, collect, validate and evaluate sustainability KPIs to gain insights, support accountability, and drive actions
  • Interpret results with regard to their business relevance and devise actions, present findings to internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Several years of experience on the job, ability to work independently, demonstrated the creative will to actively shape a field in transition
  • University degree in IT, maths, statistics, or Engineering, with specialization in sustainability
  • Practical experience in Life cycle analyses, and/or environmental product declarations (EPDs), working knowledge of LCA tools such as SimaPro, GaBi, OpenLCA, Brightway, and demonstrated application at scale
  • Hands-on experience in greenhouse gas (GHG) Reporting according to the GHG protocol - CO2 controlling
  • Big data is your passion and you are able to join data sources and derive insights from large data sets
  • Working knowledge of business intelligence and analytics tools such as PowerBI or Tableau or Python essential
  • Project management experience and knowledge of SAP systems would be beneficial
  • Fluent in English and highly numerate, other languages a plus
