Senior Manager of Risk Data Science

About the Role
As a Sr. Manager of Risk Data Science, you will lead a team of data scientists responsible for risk models which protect GoPay and its customers. You will have the opportunity to work with rich data to derive new intelligence and use various data science techniques. You will drive strategic directions in your data science area and solve some of the most impactful and stimulating business problems in the payments space by partnering with leaders from Risk, product, and engineering. You will work in a fast-paced environment with direct impacts to the business.

What You Will Do

• Lead a team of data scientists in conceiving, designing, and building cutting-edge risk models by combining data science/ML and business expertise
• Partner with engineering, product, and business leaders to deliver shared objectives and key results
• Champion innovation in data science/ML and influence product, infrastructure, and feature discussions
• Serve as a data science/ML subject matter expert in the company and industry 
• Develop your team to be the next generation of data science experts

What You Will Need

• Experience managing a team of data scientists and leading them to create risk and anti-fraud data science solutions.
• Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills
• Vast experience in data science/ML techniques and technology
• Ability to break down and frame business problems into data science solutions Stretch thinker in pushing our data science and infrastructure to the next frontier
• Communication skills to engage with senior and executive business stakeholders to understand their needs and effectively communicate the results of the analytical solutions
• Ph.D. or Masters in a quantitative discipline and at least 12 years of relevant experience with a proven track record of developing impactful data science/ML solutions

About the Team 
GoPay Data Science team builds critical ML components/models which go into the engineering systems which makes GoPay a safe, trusted and fun way to do payments. Our team members come from varied backgrounds, and use a wide set of skills (including mathematics, statistics, machine learning, and deep learning) to solve some of the toughest business problems in GoPay. We are enthusiastic about data science and its impacts on the business. We believe in growing together as a data community by promoting numerous internal forums for sharing, discussions, and presentations.
