Data Analyst

Zensurance is a fast-growing start-up turned “scale-up”, InsurTech company that is disrupting the insurance market. Zensurance is focused on building a market-leading insurance platform that helps small and medium-sized businesses manage their business risks. This task requires us to engineer from scratch, a customer-centric organization and product. We are boldly going where no insurance broker has gone before!
The role: 
Zensurance is growing at a rapid pace, and that means our Data team is growing too! 
We’re looking for a Data Analyst to join our Data Team. The Data Team is responsible for ensuring that the business has access to reliable and actionable data to inform product development and meet business objectives.
In your role, you will work with the Data Team in the Engineering Department to collect, model, and analyze data to help the company become more productive and profitable. As a Data Analyst, you will be tasked with transforming raw data into usable models, planning and assessing the results of A/B Tests, and assisting internal teams in building out their own reporting.

This role reports to the Team Lead, Data.
This is a remote role, and the team member can work from anywhere in Canada. #LI-Remote

Responsibilities

• Performing data analysis to support external teams.
• Write clean and efficient SQL to transform raw data into reusable models.
• Help design reliable A/B Tests and analyze the results using various methods of statistical analysis.
• Distill large datasets into concise and usable reports.
• Continuously improve data models to expand reporting capabilities.
• Support and train internal users in using BI tools.
• Help our team scale using Snowflake, dbt, and Looker.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in a similar role.
• 4 + years of hands-on experience using SQL.
• Hands-on experience in using one of the modern BI tools (i.e. Looker, PowerBI, Tableau, or similar).
• Experience creating data visualizations.
• Experience turning data into actionable insights.
• Experience with data warehouses (Snowflake).
• Hands-on experience in dealing with requests with ambiguity and being able to translate them into technical requirements.

Nice to Haves

• Experience with dbt.
• Experience with git.
• Comfortable on the command line.
• Prior insurance domain knowledge is an asset, but definitely not required.
• A passion for clean, reusable, and well-structured code.
• Experience defining and measuring KPIs.
