The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to be part of an organisation dedicated to nation-building renewable energy projects that will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.  

In your new role, you will be responsible for the design and governance of Transgrid’s enterprise data architecture, platforms, and services. This entails collaborating with business units, internal teams, and external IT stakeholders across all levels to ensure that the enterprise data strategy and its implementation contribute effectively to Transgrid’s objectives.

Your duties will include developing and maintaining the enterprise data roadmap in alignment with the overall data strategy, as well as working closely with stakeholders in the data community to ensure compliance with data governance policies. This will help ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of Transgrid’s data assets.

To excel in this role, the ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge and experience in designing, delivering, and governing IT solutions and services at the enterprise level. They should have a proven track record of operating in complex commercial environments, particularly those subject to high levels of regulation. Additionally, strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for effectively collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

About you

• Tertiary qualifications at degree level or equivalent relevant experience. 
• Sound leadership and management skills to facilitate professional work collaboration & delivery, guide and mentor team members and drive data-driven decision-making.
• Experience with or certification in an IT Architecture framework, e.g. TOGAF.
• Expert understanding of database concepts, data modelling, modern data platforms and software development principles is essential, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in enterprise data architecture, database design, and data integration.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing effective data solutions in complex regulated enterprise environments.
• Extensive exposure to relational and non-relational databases, data warehousing, big data and cloud-based data and analytics platforms.
• Experience in delivering advanced analytics pipelines, ideally including machine learning models.
• Experience in data profiling, data cleansing, data quality and data lifecycle management.
• Experience in defining IT architecture strategy and roadmaps.
• Proficiency in common industry database management, data modelling, ETL/ELT and data visualisation platforms and tools.

Desirable

• Cloud data architecture or engineering certifications.
• Exposure to industrial control (OT) systems.
• Exposure to AESCSF or related cyber security frameworks.
