Job Description

The Head of Data and AI role is to provide expert technical services, planning, and implementation support to data mapping, model design and migration planning. The candidate will also require software engineering experience to ensure that strategy can be delivered using a data centric approach.

The Head of Data and AI will act as an ambassador for the digital business and will be called upon to act as the principal liaison between technical support and professional services consultants and delivery teams. They will interface daily with the Business Units core functions including sales, technical support, and project management. The Head of Data and AI reports to the Digital Operations Director and will support in contributing to and delivering the UK digital business strategy, identifying and securing the skills that Assystem need to develop the business.

Already working in a leadership role, we would expect that you would bring a good network  and experience to enhance the Assystem offering. You will be a self-starter who is keen to develop data practices for Assystem's clients.

Outstanding communication skills are essential as we expect the successful candidate to work collaboratively with customers, in-house teams, and members of the supply chain. This will include Suppliers, Consultants, Contractors, the Project Delivery Teams, Commercial and Legal Teams.

Regular travel will be required to main project offices and project sites to interact with customers, colleagues, contractors, and consultants.

Key to this role will be the ability to advance data practices to enable Assystem to contribute to the delivery the UK industrial strategy and will require activities such as:

  • Keeping abreast of best practice and new developments in industry
  • Developing people, from graduates to experienced members of the team
  • Working with colleagues across the globe to bring in, or share, best practice
  • Identifying areas where digital transformation will return value
  • Have knowledge of competing AI and other data solutions, be able to recommend and then implement solutions in client environments or on cloud platforms.
  • Support the implementation of industrial data environments
  • Be able to deploy DevOps to develop data products
  • Advise on best practices for use of data management and governance
  • Support to marketing of Assystem Data offering
  • Support & develop Web, literature, interviews, presenting at relevant customer focused conferences

Qualifications

Experience from highly regulated industries such as Nuclear, Energy, Transportation, and Infrastructure is highly desirable, but Assystem will consider candidates from other industries with complex data requirements.

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in related field
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a relevant discipline
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including public speaking and negotiation
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Additional Information

Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to be able to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.

The following skills and experience would be advantageous.

  • Knowledge of architecture, engineering, information technology or related discipline in relation to construction
  • Knowledge of ISO19650 standards
