Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

In your role as a data scientist in our pricing team, you’ll lead the development and maintenance of technical models, including natural perils integration, and will oversee enterprise-wide projects. Your responsibilities include providing analytical support for reinsurance allocations, pricing methodologies, and data management. Additionally, you’ll manage relationships with stakeholders, fostering collaboration within the pricing team, and guide the Technical Pricing Analysts. Ensuring regulatory compliance and adherence to company policies are also integral aspects of the role.

This position offers a permanent full-time opportunity with a hybrid work model. While the preferred locations are Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch, candidates can also be based in any of our offices across New Zealand.

Ōu Pūkenga | About You

You’ll have extensive (5 years or more) experience in the insurance or the financial services industry, specifically within a pricing and analytics function. Beyond technical expertise, you’ll ideally possess:

•    Experience applying natural perils models (earthquakes, floods, storms) in a New Zealand context.
•    Strong stakeholder relationship management skills.
•    Proven situational and technical leadership experience.
•    Proficiency in computer programming, with a focus on R.
•    Sharp analytical and problem-solving abilities, both in verbal and written communication.
•    Meticulous attention to detail.
•    A quantitative degree in fields such as statistics, mathematics, or related science disciplines.
