About the role:

The Technology Operations team is looking for a Senior Analyst Data Engineering to join them on a 5:2 roster in Perth. You will report to the Superintendent Data & Integration Platforms, and you will be accountable for designing, developing and implementing data pipelines and processes that enable the smooth and dependable flow of data according to Roy Hill's needs and priorities. The Senior Analyst will take an active role in designing data platform systems, always looking for ways to enhance the efficiency and reliability of data pipelines and processes. They will also seek to learn about various operational domains and how current and future technology can help the business, as well as offering guidance and support to team members and colleagues.  

Duties:

• Undertake analysis of the business requirements, ensure that interfaces are developed to meet these requirements. 
• Identify areas for improvement or refactoring to utilise improved technology ensuring defined solutions promote efficiency and effectiveness
• Prioritise, schedule and communicate the timing of development and delivery
• Participate in the creation of test plans, execution of testing and validation of test results. 

Stay current with new technologies and techniques in data engineering. 

• Liaise with stakeholders, project teams and vendors to provide updates on progress, ongoing technical development, solution design and product management.

Skills and Experience:

• Degree in Computer Science, Technology IT/OT, or relevant experience. 
• Extensive experience building data pipelines as a data engineer or developer  
• Extensive experience in data modelling specifically Kimball methods & integration with PowerBI or equivalent
• Experience implementing data security measures and compliance with access policies 
• Experience in the creation and execution of test scripts including unit, system, integration and user acceptance test scripts 
• Professional experience working on a cloud data platform using Azure Data Factory and Databricks or equivalent
• Expert level in SQL and intermediate experience with Python, Java, or Scala
