What we are looking for: We are looking for a motivated, bright, and talented Environmental Data Analyst or Data Scientist to join our Environment business to support data collection, management, analysis, and visualization tasks for a diverse range of challenging and engaging environmental remediation projects. What you will be doing at Woodard & Curran:


  • An entry-level data analyst is typically assigned specific tasks on project teams and is expected to use their knowledge to resolve the problems and tasks they are assigned under the mentorship of senior staff. Potential assignments in this role may include:
  • Managing, analyzing, evaluating, and interpreting data for use in reports and other visualizations including maps, charts, and 3D models.
  • Work with and process environmental datasets and geospatial data.
  • Complete statistical analyses such as calculating upper confidence limits (UCLs), two-sample hypothesis testing, linear regressions, and Mann Kendall trends under guidance from senior staff.
  • Assist with implementation of data management solutions and procedure improvements.
  • Assist in designing, coding, testing, and documenting systems.
  • Collaborate with other developers and internal project groups.
  • Support data management tasks throughout the data life cycle, including data acquisition, database maintenance, and data quality assurance.

  • Candidate should be a self-starter and possess strong technical skills to support a wide range of science and engineering projects. A successful candidate will also be detail oriented, have excellent verbal communication skills combined with a positive attitude, and ability to work both independently and within teams.

What you will need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, computer science, data analytics, statistics, or similar related field.
  • 0-5 years of previous experience in the water and/or environmental industries.
  • Experience with programming languages (preferably Python, R, and/or SQL) for statistics, data analysis, and data management.
  • Experience with statistical software (such as ProUCL, R, JMP).
  • Experience with data analysis, interpretation, and written/visual presentation of conclusions.
  • Basic familiarity with relational databases, such as MS SQL or MS Access.
  • Ability to document and troubleshoot errors.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously with competing deadlines and shifting priorities.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with MS Power Platform (e.g. Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate) a plus.
  • Experience/interest in multivariate statistics and/or machine learning a plus.
  • Experience with ArcGIS a plus.
