Job Description

You will be part of a team who are growing the capabilities and services in the Visa Spend Clarity to deliver scalable and robust solutions that will take Visa Spend Clarity to more customers and users around the globe. With an engineering group of nearly 300 people, Visa Spend Clarity is a key focus area with large growth ambitions driven by customer needs and a desire to innovate using modern cloud technologies.

What a Senior Data Engineer does at Visa

A Senior Data Engineer is a pivotal role working within a cohesive cross-disciplined agile team on the product backlog. In this role you will be working on an exciting new set of modules key to deliver a set of critical features to enhance our capabilities to better present data to customers and other engineering team. As a senior you will help drive improvements to processes and practices, providing technical leadership, and mentoring others.

You will be working alongside engineers of intermediate and senior ability, as well as other agile team members and consultants.

This role requires a dedication to technical excellence, not only in writing code, but also in team-collaboration, testing, documentation. Good communication skills are essential, as well as a willingness to work across various disciplines if required.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Solid experience working with: 

• Cloud environments – AWS preferred. 
• Data ETL/ELT transformation (e.g., Python, Spark) 
• Serverless technologies (e.g., S3, Lambda, Glue, DynamoDB) 
• SQL (intermediate to advanced skills) 
• Data modelling and design experience 

Experience required in: 

• Scripting (e.g., PowerShell) 
• Data governance 
• CI/CD 
• Source control (e.g., Git, Subversion)
• Continuous Integration (e.g., TeamCity) 
• Performance troubleshooting and resolution 
• Monitoring - including building dashboards to monitor metrics 

Desired experience in:

• API Development
• Test automation
