Data Scientist - Risk

About the Role
They say no man is an island, and this notion holds particularly true for this role. As our Data Scientist for the Risk & Fraud team, you will focus on the development of fraud detection algorithms, proactively identifying various data sources and developing robust techniques to detect anomalous patterns in them. You'll have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment within a highly cross-functional team (in constant collaboration with business and product stakeholders) and leverage our robust, Big Data infrastructure right at your fingertips. The folks over at the Data Science Platform team will be your companions during this ride, as they help to bring your models to production. 

What You Will Do

• Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, product managers, and validation teams across the risk organization
• Develop statistical/Machine learning based techniques to tackle fraud
• Prototype, validate and iterate solutions end-to-end (data ingestion to model performance)
• Be actively involved in deploying and maintaining models in production
• Help deliver and improve business metrics continuously

What You Will Need

• A Bachelor's/Master's degree in Statistics, CS or related engineering streams
• At least 3 years of experience in developing statistical/ML solutions
• Good understanding of Statistics/ML fundamentals
• Hands-on experience with the Python DS environment 
• Exposure to pyspark and cloud environments like GCP/AWS is preferred
• Capability to independently solve a well-defined DS problem end-to-end

About the Team
Our 'Risk & Fraud' Data Science team consists of 5 Data Scientists.
Our main responsibility is to build data products to minimize financial loss due to fraud, curtail abuse, and improve user experience on the platform. How does one achieve this, you may ask? By leveraging on Machine Learning. We are a team of data scientists with diverse academic, professional and personal backgrounds working from 3 different locations [Jakarta, Bangalore and Singapore]. What unites us is the passion to make Gojek’s platform safe for all. We have been able to make a demonstrable impact by thinking creatively and by working collaboratively with subject matter experts, product managers and engineers. We are continuously learning and adapting to tackle the challenging domain that is fraud.
As a team, we’re concerned not only with the growth of the company, but each other’s personal and professional growths, too. With WFH becoming more normalized, we've been sharing our favorite ways to prioritize a healthy work-life balance at home.
