We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Lead to join our Data team. As a Data Lead, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of data strategies that support the company's mission of revolutionising the education industry through technology. You will lead a multi disciplinary team of different data roles (scientist, engineers, etc) and work closely with cross-functional teams to develop data-driven insights and solutions that drive growth and improve the overall user experience.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement data strategies that support the company's mission and goals
  • Lead a multi disciplinary team of data engineers and data scientists to ensure efficient data collection, data processing, API development, and ensuring robust and secure data warehousing.
  • Owning the Tech Roadmap for the data pipeline, ensuring debt is repaid as we go and can be delivered alongside business deliverables.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g. product, engineering, marketing) to identify and prioritise data-driven insights and solutions
  • Analyse and interpret large sets of data to uncover trends, patterns, and insights
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner
  • Lead development and maintenance of dashboards and reports to monitor key performance indicators and track progress
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest data tools and techniques to ensure the team is using the best technology and applying best practice for the job

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g. statistics, mathematics, computer science)
  • 8+ years of experience in a data-related role, with a demonstrated history in leading a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience working with large sets of data
  • Expertise in SQL and at least one data visualisation tool (e.g.Looker, Tableau, PowerBI)
  • Knowledge of best practices and expertise with building APIs in Python
  • Knowledge of data warehousing technologies and concepts (e.g. Kimball)
  • Experience in building ETL pipelines with Apache Beam
  • Experience with GCP or AWS
  • Experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex data concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Experience working in the education or edtech industry is a plus
