Senior Data Engineer - Risk & Compliance

We develop, serve, maintain and improve ML Models for Fraud and Financial Crime Detection, Prediction and Prevention in SumUp

The team does so by providing real time models and batch applications in the realm of risk and financial crime over the whole SumUp life cycle and products. Together with the risk platform squad the risk modelling team builds the necessary platform foundations for scalable and reliable ML model serving and development in SumUp. The platform enables a global approach supported by local specifics. 

Are you up for the challenge? If so, here is a flavour of what awaits you as Senior Data Engineer:

• Building and scaling complex data pipelines, that collect data into our data lake and provide data to internal services and external users.
• CI/CD management for Kafka Components / Data Lake pipelines for the Machine Learning Infrastructure and the entire risk domain. 
• Contributing to architecture, guidelines and best practices for building and maintaining our data platform.
• Working closely with the stakeholders on data solutions.
• Engaging in knowledge sharing activities. 
• Participating in hiring new engineers for the team

Does this sound interesting? We would like you to be experienced in all of most of the following:

• Experience working with data engineering on large scale systems with high throughput (3+ years of full time work experience in Data Engineering, previous background in backend development would be a plus)  
• Commercial experience working with Python and Scala/Spark
• In depth knowledge of AWS technologies
• Demonstrable experience working with Kafka (On-premises, Confluent or AWS Managed Kafka)
• Commercial experience with Kubernetes as the container orchestration platform
• You have previous experience delivering Infrastructure as Code using Terraform

It would be nice if you had this experience:

• Further experience in Go/Java/Ruby is considered a plus.
• first-hand experience in mentoring.
• Previous experience within the financial services and banking domain
