We’re looking for an ambitious and driven Data Engineer to join our team to help us build our data platform!

Location

Our main talent hubs are in Oslo and London and we plan to expand to key European locations over the next 12 months. Ideally you would be based in London, however we would also consider candidates based elsewhere in the UK. Two is a remote-friendly company, and we believe in genuine flexibility in how our employees work. It’s about the work you do, not how many hours you’re in the office.


ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currently looking to expand our Data Team with an experienced and ambitious Data Engineer with a passion for building highly scalable and optimised data products!

You’d be joining a fast-paced Data Team who’s mission is to empower business decisions by provisioning quality data information. We have a data-driven culture and believe that data wealth and the ability to leverage it effectively is what sets us apart!

You will be working closely with stakeholders across business divisions to enable quality decisions based on clean, trusted, and enriched data.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

The role requires a proactive and independent individual, who understands the challenges of working in a startup, wants to own the problem, and is able to design data solutions with great attention to the quality of products being delivered. Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead the design and implementation of a scalable and reliable data platform at Two
  • Establish and scale our Data Analytics capability across the company
  • Help establish a data culture across the business by implementing a self-serve data platform
  • Build pipelines to enrich internal data with data from 3rd parties by using different integration tools such as Airflow, Airbytes, etc.
  • Contributing to exploring ways to share data knowledge across the company
  • Establish effective communication with different departments to understand business processes in depth and model them in the Data-warehouse to enable data-driven decisions across the business
  • Ensure quality of data delivered to end user

TECHNOLOGIES WE USE:

  • Our foundational core products run as micro-services on Kubernetes
  • Python and Golang for our back-end applications
  • Svelte with Tailwind, SvelteKit, TypeScript, React for our front-end
  • PostgreSQL and BigQuery for distributed data storage
  • Two cloud infrastructure is hosted on Google Cloud Platform
  • Our CI/CD pipeline consists of Github Actions, Helm and Terraform

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience in designing transactional and multidimensional databases using normalization for OLTP and Data Warehouse modelling techniques (Kimball's, Datavault methodologies)
  • Experience working on BI projects
  • Strong SQL skills and ability to tune SQL performance
  • Experience working in the cloud with data pipelines and data integration tools or APIs ( Airflow, dbt, Fivetran, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD principals
  • DevOps experience preferred
  • Track record of successfully achieving your set goals and meeting tight deadlines
  • You are ambitious, reliable, and resilient with a can-do attitude, always with a suggestion for a solution rather than just explaining a problem!
