Job Description:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Data Engineer Mentor to join our team at Growth Labs Academy. As a Mentor, you will play a pivotal role in guiding and mentoring students enrolled in our modular programs. Your expertise and commitment to fostering a collaborative learning environment will contribute to the success of our students and our Academy.

Responsibilities

• Provide mentorship to students enrolled in the Artifical Intelligence/Machine Learning program.
• Offer guidance and support to students in understanding fundamental data engineering concepts, tools, and techniques.
• Deliver engaging and interactive lessons, fully online, to individuals from diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
• Collaborate with the curriculum development team to ensure that course materials are up-to-date and relevant to industry standards.
• Facilitate the transfer of knowledge by presenting complex concepts in a clear and concise manner, ensuring students understand the fundamental principles and techniques of data engineering.
• Assess students' progress through regular evaluations, assignments, and exams, providing constructive feedback to help them improve their technical skills.
• Guide and support students in the projects, offering advice and suggesting best practices.
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment, encouraging students to actively participate and engage with the material.
• Take on leadership responsibilities, such as coordinating training sessions, developing curriculum materials, or contributing to the overall growth and development of the academy.

Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Data Engineer.
• Proficiency in designing and implementing data models, as well as expertise in ETL processes for data extraction, transformation, and loading.
• Strong programming skills in Python (Java, or Scala is also a plus).
• Experience with various database management systems and familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka for large-scale data processing.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP, coupled with the ability to design and manage data pipelines for efficient data ingestion, processing, and storage.
• Strong assessment skills, capable of evaluating students' progress accurately and providing constructive feedback for improvement.
• Ability to provide guidance and mentorship, leveraging leadership skills to support juniors and foster their professional growth.
• Public speaking skills - demonstrating confidence and the ability to engage and captivate an audience.
• Highly fluent in English, with exceptional verbal and written skills, enabling effective interaction with international students and colleagues.
• Proven ability to transfer knowledge effectively and adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and skill levels.
• Previous experience as an instructor/trainer or mentor in the related field of expertise is a plus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience and empathy in guiding students through their learning journey.
• Adaptability to diverse learning styles and backgrounds.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Passion for continuous learning and staying updated with industry trends.
