Data Analytics Engineer

SpotOn is a cutting-edge software company dedicated to redefining the merchant services industry. Our tools increase revenue and connect businesses with their customers using rewards, deals, online reviews, website building, and data analytics. Tools like these were previously only available to big businesses with big bankrolls and their own developers, but our platform caters to neighborhood stores, independent retailers, and other small to midsize businesses. We have our service deployed in many cities across the U.S. and Mexico.

The ideal candidate will be able to:

• Develop and scale data pipelines using open source tools and vendor platforms
• Manage our Snowflake instance to scale efficiently
• Assist in development of dimensional models using Kimball design techniques
• Deploy your code in the cloud using patterns for container deployment and orchestration.  Manage production workloads using Kubernetes and Docker
• Provide an opinion on the direction of SpotOn's data initiatives and data infrastructure
• Partner with engineers, analysts and business stakeholders from various teams to build data insights and help them to answer important questions
• Ensure reliable and secure dev/production environments and actively harden infrastructure shared across the data and analytics teams

What skill are we searching for?

• At least 3 years of experience in developing data pipelines on modern, cloud-based infrastructure
• Experience in custom ELT design, implementation, and maintenance
• Basic understanding of data modeling and Kimball design techniques
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in using sophisticated SQL queries and writing/optimizing efficient SQL queries
• Communication skills, including the ability to identify and communicate data-driven insights
• Basic understanding of DevOps
• Comfortable creating new software projects with CI/CD deployments using predefined best practices and standards
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (preferably Python, or Scala, Java, Go)
• Experience with batch and streaming design patterns and tools (Kinesis, Kafka)
