Job Description

Accountabilities:

The Data Platform Services team is a key component of the Data & Analytics organization at Syngenta. The Data Engineer will be part of an agile DevOps team within the Data Platform Services team building highly reliable and scalable data pipelines to enable a modern data lake-based platform that is the foundation of trust-worthy data for company researchers and decision-making teams. Specific job duties include the following: 1) Design and build data pipelines for enterprise and R&D data to enable a modern data architecture hosted on AWS. 2) Organize, deliver, and ensure data integration support of a corporate computing capability. 3) Implement a high-performance, next generation data platform. 4) Provide business and architectural context to show how the tools fit within the overall infrastructure and high-performance enterprise data architecture. 5) Work with a team to identify, design and build appropriate dataset and linkages for complex data. 6) Refactor legacy data systems to integrate with the next generation scientific data platforms using cloud technologies. 7) Implement data quality standards and processes for emerging R&D data classes. 8) Contribute to the team’s growing set of development platforms, tools, processes and promote industry standard best practices. 9) Perform work using the following tools and technologies: PostgreSQL, PL/pgSQL, Business process Rules Engine, Java, Spring, Spring Boot Framework AWS Glue, Denodo, SQL Server, IntelliJ, Data grip, SQL, Shell Script, GIT, CI/CD, VCS, Putty, Vim and Linux.

Qualifications

Requirements:

This position requires a Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Informatics, or a related field and two years related experience.

Must also have 24 months of experience (which may have been gained concurrently) with each of the following: 1) Designing and building data pipelines for enterprise and R&D data to enable a modern data architecture hosted on AWS. 2) Providing business and architectural context to show how the tools fit within the overall infrastructure and high-performance enterprise data architecture. 3) Refactoring legacy data systems to integrate with the next generation scientific data platforms using cloud technologies. 4) Implementing data quality standards and processes for emerging R&D data classes. 5) Performing work using the following tools and technologies: PostgreSQL, PL/pgSQL, Business process Rules Engine, Java, Spring, Spring Boot Framework AWS Glue, Denodo, SQL Server, IntelliJ, Data grip, SQL, Shell Script, GIT, CI/CD, VCS, Putty, Vim, and Linux. Will accept experience gained before, during or after Master’s program. Must pass a background check and drug test before beginning employment.
