Ideal candidate for this role is someone with a strong background in P&C underwriting product knowledge, business and data analysis who is eager to work with large complex datasets in a big data environment. You are adept at implementing prefill data solutions for P&C products using external data sources and data science models. You have a critical eye for perceiving actionable insights from multitude of data sources ranging from structured and unstructured. You have an innate ability to enage, influence and champion innovative solutions and are never afraid to come up with out of the box solutions to traditional P&C underwriting. You are a self-starter who will take ownership of your projects and deliver high-quality data-driven analytics solutions. 

 

 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Work independently with underwriting product managers and business partners, analyze the underwriting questions and determine the best external sources for answering such questions using vendor data, webscraping, machine learning models. 
  • Evaluate and qualify new External data vendors to bring into 360 big data platform; review data dictionary; perform data mapping; perform detailed comparative analysis of external data to internal data; present findings to key stakeholders
  • Develop ETL rules for creating new data attributes; conflation rules and confidence score logic for merging data from different vendors
  • Build strong relationships with external data vendors to ensure conformity of data, quality check, development of new data attributes, exploring additional usage of their data 
  • Work closely with Digital IT to implement data solutions; participate in scrum meetings; Act as a subject matter expert to provide business support in defining requirements
  • Utilize data analysis skills within and outside of the developing Chubb information ecosystem for discovery, analytics and data management
  • Perform detailed product/portfolio level analysis on hit rate, fill rate to assess digital data solution effectiveness on each underwriting question/data attributes; obtain approval from Product Managers and business stake holders; provide post impelementation support especially around any major deviations from projected hit rate, fill rate etc.
  • Perform User Acceptance Testing for monthly data refreshes; 
  • Work with various relational and non-relational data sources with the target being Azure based SQL Data Warehouse & Cosmos DB repositories
  • Work closely with the Data Science and Data Engineering team to perform complex analytics and data preparation tasks; measure performance of data solutions implemented via API’s, QlikView dashboards etc.; spearhead data labeling efforts for machine learning models

 

Qualification/Experience

 

  • Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Systems or related educational background
  • 3+ years of work experience as Business/Data/Product Analyst in Property & Casualty insurance
  • Excellent working knowledge of SQL & experience querying big data platforms, relational databases, MySQL, Oracle, DB2 etc. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of P&C Insurance concepts and business data
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in business data definition, data profiling and data mapping analysis
  • Excellent understanding of how technology impacts the business
  • Must have strong business acumen as well as technical solutions expertise
  • Strong ability to independently perform analysis of business workflow, and technology issues to facilitate decision-making
  • Multi-tasking along with strong organization and time management skills is a must
  • Must have strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, documentation  skills
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies
  • Experience with Data APIs (Working with RESTful endpoints and/or SOAP)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Hadoop 2.0 ecosystems, HDFS, Spark etc. is preferred
  • Programming experience (Python or R) is a plus
  • Knowledge of High-Speed Data Ingestion, Real-Time Data Collection and Streaming is a plus
  • Data visualization tool experience a plus
