Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Defense, Space and Security organization seeks a Flight Engineer so serve as Spacecraft Flight Engineer a to work on our Flight Engineering & Operations team in Aurora, Colorado, supporting daily operations in the end-to-end technical management of our mission. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, and verify a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
  • Develop the planning, organization, implementation, and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management, and technology readiness assessment processes.
  • Own all aspects of spacecraft operations, planning, monitoring, and trending telemetry.   Look for adverse trends that could affect operations as well as planning and execution of all required maintenance procedures and recovery from anomalies.
  • Participate in software integration and test activities to ensure mission functionality prior to deployment into operations.
  • Coordinate with management and peers to ensure the integrity of high-quality operational products including procedures, tools, detailed event logging, and system configuration.
  • Analyze technical data, verify and sustain specific systems configuration in accordance with defined parameters and operational requirements.
  • Run analyses to optimize total system of systems or system architecture.
  • Resolves cross-functional technical issues.

To meet security standards and protocols, all work is performed onsite in Aurora, CO.

This position requires an active U.S. TS/SCI Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • Completed polygraph.
  • 1+ years of experience in Space or Satellite systems.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience developing scripts or tools in MATLAB, VBA, Perl, Python, etc.

Typical Education & Experience:

Experienced (level 3):  Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Lead (level 4):  Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

Shift Work:

This position is for 1st shift.  The Flight Engineering & Operations team works a Monday through Friday work schedule; however, team members are required to be on-call off-hours on a rotating basis.  Shift differential and overtime apply.

Summary pay range:

Experienced (level 3): 108,800 – 147,200

Lead (level 4):  135,150 – 182,850
