BUSINESS AREA

The Oncology Data Science – Data, Analytics, and AI Platforms (ODSP) team comprises multiple groups across the Cambridge UK, Boston MA, Gaithersburg MD, Barcelona ES, and Munich DE sites.  ODSP develops technology, software, and data infrastructure to advance our Oncology data science. Our vision is to evolve data science into a driver of innovation within Oncology. We do this by creating a strategic culture that values our data as a valid business asset, organizing our data so that it’s accessible, easy to find, integrated, and re-usable for Humans & AI, and building the best data computational tools to support scientific decision-making.

What you’ll do

Primarily responsible for the software stack across the imaging and ML development domain, working with users, software providers, and internal software engineering and operations teams to ensure an innovative, scalable, and integrated portfolio of imaging software products for our internal and external stakeholders. Working out of the Munich DE office, you will be engaged directly with our colleagues regarding the oncology portfolio, working directly with the engineers and stakeholders for the products you are involved in. 

Responsibilities:

  • Connect with customers and identify and formulate the problems we will solve.
  • Owns software stacks ranging from image processing and visualization, data analysis, pipeline automation, data management, and compute orchestration
  • Work across functions to define ML process and landscape (e.g. training patches, models, metrics, segmentation and classification results) to contribute to the wider drug development program
  • Establish and maintain communication channels with users to understand needs and collect feedback
  • Collects and prioritizes requirements from differing stakeholder groups with varying expectations
  • Own the product roadmap to ensure value delivery in MVPs.
  • Grow user base by establishing comprehensive documentation, manual writing, and conducting software training and support
  • Support the engineering team to optimize user value and building of product strategies for our AI solutions through understanding and documenting end-to-end user workflows and journeys
  • Represent the team as a product owner in product increment planning within a scaled agile framework
  • Establish a holistic view of workflow processes and be the transistor between different functional groups to ensure consistent communication and alignment

Education, Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

Essential for the role:

  • Master’s degree in natural or engineering sciences
  • Experience in the bioimaging background with knowledge of major types of digital pathology imaging (brightfield, immunofluorescence, multiplex whole slide imaging)
  • Good understanding of technology infrastructure for large-scale image and data analysis computing
  • Ability to work in a global, highly matrixed environment
  • Desire to be curious and challenge standard practices
  • Stakeholder communication and management
  • Experience in agile methodology, especially scrum

Desirable for the role:

  • Knowledge in (immune) oncology
  • Knowledge of drug development (processes)
  • Product development experience
  • Knowledge of business analytics 
  • Knowledge in deep learning-based image analysis
  • Understanding of development tools like docker, gitlab, orchestration systems (e.g. Kubeflow), programming language (preferably Python)
  • Understanding of image annotation tools or workflows
  • Familiarity with image analysis methodology for detection, segmentation, and classification
  • Knowledge of CDx development processes
  • Experience with GxP or related regulatory processes
