Introduction to the job

Within D&E, the Defectivity and Optics Lifetime Performance Department, part of the Machine Conditioning cluster, is responsible for making sure the ASML-products have a high-quality output (yield) and adequate lifetime of the optics. Degradation of the optics over time will significantly decrease the EUV power at wafer level. The resulting impact is a decrease of productivity with aging of our scanners. Productivity is a key in enabler for our customers.

Customers are pushing for more good wafers per day. The challenge is maintaining the high initial productivity performance over time. As Optics Lifetime (OLT) analyst you will be actively involved in the analysis of the degradation over time of the optical column, finding root causes of the degradation and translating these findings into improvement proposals for EUV scanners with the aim to guarantee a high productivity over time. Are you up for the challenge?

Role and responsibilities

As Optics lifetime data analyst you will be responsible for the analysis of datastreams related to optics lifetime performance at customers sites. Moreover you will be responsible to detect and act on outliers w.r.t. optics lifetime performance (transmission loss, environmental conditions, …). You will also drive for corrective actions.

The field data analyst will try to find root causes of degradation of the optics lifetime performance by executing correlation studies of the degradation behavior with various environmental parameters and system configurations. You will contribute in translating these statistical correlations into problem description and come-up with improvement proposals (hardware, flow settings,…) together with relevant FC’s. You will actively define and push for solutions to guarantee optics lifetime performance. You will monitor the effect of improved system configuration after roll-out to the field on the transmission loss behavior. You will engage with engineers with various backgrounds  and from various other disciplines, e.g. dose control, databases with system performance data, productivity, statistical analysis, illumination, projection and vacuum systems.

Education and experience

Master or PhD degree in chemistry, physics, mechanical, mathematics, statistical analysis or related. At least 2 years of working experience in the industry is required.

Skills

Working at the cutting edge of technology, you’ll always have new challenges and new problems to solve – and working together is the only way do that. You will not work in a silo. Instead, you’ll be part of a creative, dynamic work environment where you’ll collaborate with supportive colleagues. There is always space for creative and unique points of view. You’ll have the flexibility and trust to choose how best to tackle tasks and solve problems.
To thrive in this job, you’ll need the following (soft) skills:

  • Proactive Team player with good communication skills.
  • Pragmatic, innovative, highly committed and flexible.
  • Analytical approach to solve difficult problems.
  • Proficient with databases and statistical analysis

  • Ability to think and act on a strategic level. Understanding the business context.
  • Willingness to travel to ASML customers (ad hoc basis).

Other Information:
ASML’s Development & Engineering (D&E) sector is responsible for the specification, design and realization of all products in the ASML portfolio. Within the D&E sector, the OLT group is responsible for the optics lifetime performance of all ASML’s EUV scanners. You will be architect in the OLT performance  team. Your team consist out of around 8 highly skilled engineers and 3 other architects working on OLT performance for both high and low NA platforms.
