Sony AI is seeking a highly motivated, self-driven individual with expertise in software engineering and experience in working with large scale scientific data on a permanent contract. We’re currently looking for smart, enthusiastic people who want to join our team of world-renowned researchers as we push the boundaries applying AI in support of human creativity. In this role, the successful candidate will contribute to our groundbreaking flagship project in AI for Chip Design.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Design and set up the software infrastructure for Machine Learning Systems targeted towards optimization of hardware designs. Write code to support research, usually in Python and/or C++
• Execute appropriate benchmarking and validation tests in collaboration with other researchers. 
• Propose performance metrics and identify limitations. 
• Understand and shape informative data structures for the storage/processing of appropriate design data
• Maintain the smooth functioning of local and third-part compute systems
• Development of testing and CI/CD systems. 
• Implementation of proof of concept demonstrators.
• Contribute to a team working on ground-breaking algorithms in the realm of hardware design.

• Work closely with a team of AI researchers and engineers in the US, Switzerland, and Japan on ambitious AI projects

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Passion to develop cutting-edge AI technology and deploy it through a multi-stakeholder approach.
• Experience in software engineering methods with a track record of developing working systems in computational and data science. 
• Experience in developing software for large scale scientific data is a plus
• Excellent publication track-record in relevant fields etc.
• Solid programming skills using Python, C++ as well as frameworks such as PyTorch.
• Excellent oral and written English
