Principal Consultant, MLOps

Company Description

Our Data Team is made up of  80+ people, covering data engineering, data science, and data architecture specialisms. The team works with a range of public and private sector clients, building production grade cloud solutions focussed on streaming, graph, big data, and data science use cases.

We are looking for a hybrid MLOps and Data Engineer to play a critical role in our growing AI team.  The ideal candidate will have experience in building and optimising data pipelines, deploying machine learning models, and ensuring the scalability and reliability of data and ML systems.  This role requires strong client-facing skills. 

Job Description

Due to the nature of the client engagements, every employee needs to be able to achieve Security Clearance. This means that you need to have the right to take up employment within the UK, do not have or require any visa to work, and have been resident in the UK for at least 5 years without any gap(s) totalling more than 6 months.

You should be able to easily commute to our Manchester office.  For some roles/projects, travel to the clients offices will be required and the frequency is often determined by the client.

Responsibilities vary by project, but may include: 

• Developing & managing CI/CD pipelines for ML model deployment

• Automating and monitoring ML workflows to ensure efficient and reliable model training, validation and deployment

• Implementing best practices for version control, reproducibility and scalability of ML models

• Collaborating with data scientists to streamline the transition from model development to production

• Building robust data pipelines and ETL processes.

• Ensuring data quality, consistency, and availability for downstream applications and analytics

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have proven experience in data engineering and/or MLOps roles. Required skills include:

• Robust python programming skills.

• An understanding of ML models, including versioning, deployment and training.

• Experience with Docker, Linux/Mac CLI, Git, and testing.

• Experience with one of a major cloud platform (preferably AWS, or Azure platform).

• Knowledge of data governance and security best practices.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation

It would be great if you have :

• Basic familiarity with GPUs in the cloud environment

• Familiarity with monitoring tools and techniques for ML models and data pipelines

• Demonstrable experience with modern CI/CD pipelines

Whilst having experience in a consultancy is beneficial, demonstrable experience in working with clients/external partners in other settings will always be considered.
