In your role as a Director of Data Science (m/f/d), you will lead the department’s engagement with business stakeholders and executives and partner with these stakeholders and executives in enhancing the existing data management methodologies and developing new approaches and methodologies.

Additionally, you will manage the data science team, ensuring the proper execution of functions within the department. Ideally you would also be able to do some hands on work and aligning on technical implementation and strategies to be used by other Data Scientists. 

Job Description

  • Responsible for developing team culture, training and competencies development, mentoring and motivating the team members; setting the data science vision and capabilities that contribute to the business's overall targets and objectives;
  • Leverage data enabling him to uncover insights, trends, and patterns that are useful in making informed decisions;
  • Responsible for evaluating technologies used within the business and communicating the findings to the key stakeholders;
  • Partner with senior executives and key stakeholders across the business on developing the data science roadmap that is in line with the overall business strategy and is contributing to business performance;
  • Take initiative and stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices and incorporate them in the business;
  • Discover, implement and advocate usage of various tools and processes that make Data Science a real multiplier for the business, but also our Tech teams;
  • Proactively do R&D on most critical aspects of our business to identify opportunities and gaps in both operational and product where Data Scientist can work on improving operational efficiencies and customer facing products.

Qualifications

  • You possess Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Machine learning or any other related field; 
  • 5+ years of professional experience managing multiple teams through the implementation of new data science models, tools, and techniques  as a Director, or a Head of; 
  • Are hands-on in analysing and manipulating large, complex, high-dimensional data from numerous sources and communicating the results to a wider org, leading to business-wide improvement of data management, informed decision-making, and ultimate improvement in performance; 
  • You are pragmatic and understand what is needed to get things done collaboratively across a large organisation;
  • Have worked with MLOps to define the architecture and integrations between Product & Engineering and Data Science models;
  • You can demonstrate how you achieved this success: processes, goals, KPI’s, hiring, firing, management skills, alignment, budgeting etc;
  • A passionate leader who can lead and inspire others;
  • Excellent communication in English.
