Overview
Data Science and Artificial Intelligence represents the next phase in the advancement of our digital transformation and is a significant evolution for MasterCard. We continue to evolve our Data Science and AI strategy to support aggressive growth plans, we are looking for a technical leader to manage a team of talented engineers and help build the next generation Data Science & AI platform. If you think out of the box and have innovative mindset to use new tools and technologies in solving business problems, then this position is for you.

Responsibilities

• Formally supervise and coach one or more teams of engineers to build, enhance, and support multiple applications/services in the delivery of internal or market-facing Products, Platforms, or Product bundles.
• Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of MLOps platforms. This includes infrastructure for model training, deployment, monitoring, and automation.
• Recruit and hire right talent at various levels in the team.
• Continuously engage and improve teams’ performance by conducting recurring 1-1 meetings, knowing your people, managing career development, and understanding who is at risk.
• Emulate and drive Mastercard Way behaviors through recognitions, coaching, and employee engagement.
• Manage and optimize budgets, forecasting, and cost allocation while delivering on business needs in the area of ownership.
• Provide strategic thinking and leadership related to a wide range of applications and systems, or software-development methodologies.
• Proactively share and seek knowledge within the Data Science Guild to drive reuse of patterns/libraries/practices and enhance productivity.


Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• 10+ years of IT experience with successful track record in managing small scale development teams with demonstrated thought-leadership, cross-functional influence, and partnership.
• Progressively grown career with proven design and development experiences in multiple languages, secure coding and security standards.
• Familiarity with AI/ML and Generative AI product development lifecycle (MLOPs)
• Familiarity with basic Data Science concepts, Neural Networks and LLMs
• Has skills to document and coach team on the development practices and coding guidelines (e.g., branching, peer reviews, library use, logging, scanning rules, test-driven development, error handling)
• Understands system architecture and plans for platform and infrastructure capacity (e.g., database, compute, network, storage) and drives the dependency prioritization to reduce the delivery lead time.
• Has skills to understand customer journeys and ensure a Mastercard good experience by continuously reducing Mean time to mitigate (MTTM) for incidents and ensuring high availability.
• Experience with Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Databricks) is a plus
