NBCUniversal Global Distribution is responsible for the licensing and distribution of NBCUniversal product to all forms of television and new media platforms in the U.S., Canada and in over 200 territories internationally. Job Description
OVERVIEW
NBC Universal is one of the world's leading media and entertainment companies. We develop, produce and market entertainment, news and information to a global market. The NBC News finance team is committed to fostering development and engagement with all team members, and to supporting a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture. The Manager will play an integral role on the NBC News finance team, which oversees the management and analysis of financial information (EBITDA, Production Costs, Headcount, Allocations) across multiple brands within the News Group portfolio.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The ideal candidate will have a base knowledge in production & operations, budgeting, forecasting, and monthly close procedures. This position is primarily responsible for providing financial support to certain production & operational groups within the News division. The responsibilities include but are not limited to the preparation and review of actuals, forecasts, and budgets, providing financial support for various initiatives, explaining variances between actual results, preparation of timely reporting and financial projections as well as assisting with ad hoc requests.
- Provide regular reporting on KPI’s, financial performance, variances, and trends with key insights through analysis and observation of any risks or opportunities to the businesses
- Drive enhancement in processes and systems to support overall financial planning models
- Build effective business partner relationships with key internal/external stakeholders
- Work collaboratively to create and implement processes and tools used for improved communication of financial results to business operators and finance leads
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data
- Help manage the close process, actuals, balance sheet, and P&L
- Support Controllership in monthly and quarterly closes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Provide various ad-hoc support as needed
Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum of 1-2 years media research experience. There is a preference for candidates who have worked with a content distributor/studio, broadcast or cable network, or an OTT platform.
- Demonstrate familiarity with linear TV and digital research terminology, methodology, and the evolving media landscape.
- Showcase strong numerical and analytical skills coupled with a creative approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ensuring clear and compelling storytelling.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
- A passion for video content and its impact on audiences.
DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS
- Comfort with SQL and VBA along with familiarity with Python and R will be an advantage.
- Experience with various ratings software/tools such as iTVR, Fusion, and Arianna is desirable.
