CommBank is driving a strategic data transformation to ensure we modernize the way we produce, ingest organize and govern data so it behaves like electricity, always available, reliable and of immediate consumption, The Chief Data Analytics Office (CDAO) team is responsible for delivery of this strategic initiative.

Further, the Chief Data Analytics Office (CDAO) team is responsible for leading the delivery of world-class data, analytics and technology capabilities to improve the financial well-being of our customers and communities.

This team is responsible for building and driving adoption of world class data products that drive business decisions, analytics, customer experiences & partnerships. It also includes the R&D and architecture teams that is tasked with ensuring that CBA has world class data and analytic capability.

Ultimately the team pushing boundaries on how we consume, store and deliver data across CommBank.

Impact & contribution:

The Senior Data Architect is responsible to drive the solution design to enable the build of world class data products that drive business decisions, analytics, customer experiences & partnerships along with the Data and Analytics strategy and matching architecture to realize the strategy.

Success in this role requires a strong understanding of the value in data and analytics, the architecture and technology that supports this coupled with the ability to advance capabilities in processes, systems and people to meet current and future needs. This includes a focus on building the cloud data platform best-fit for the Group and providing the capability to support the data strategy of the Group.

Your growth and Enterprise Mindset will see your impact felt across multiple teams in CDAO, and the rest of the group, as we transform to deliver greater value from data and analytics.  You will drive outstanding execution and provide high quality thought leadership on all matters data and analytics related for the Group.

Roles & Responsibilities:
The Senior Data Architect is a key role focused on delivering value across CBA and you will support our clients in defining and implementing a data journey aligned with their strategic objectives. This role is high impact, offering the opportunity to reinforce and stretch a number of critical leadership skills.  You will be exposed to senior leaders across the Group and be involved in developing, implementing and supporting the business banking and institutional banking business units.

You will build strong working relationships with key business and technology stakeholders to deliver value through data and analytics that helps deliver the Group’s data and analytics strategy. You execute on this responsibility in a variety of ways:

  • The successful candidate will have extensive experience working in the IT, financial services, or business consulting/strategic planning industries, specifically with knowledge in the Data and Analytics domains.
  • Advanced knowledge of AWS eco-system of data and AI and experience in working with enterprise architecture.
  • Advanced knowledge of data management systems, practices and standards.
  • Advanced analytics experience including predictive analytics.
  • Strong data modelling, data architecture and analytical skills
  • Strong SQL skills, including performance analysis.
  • Demonstrate technical expertise in modern AI, analytics, big data and associated technologies, cloud platforms, data quality, governance and architecture.
  • Collaborate with solution design and business requirements teams to identify data requirements and influence project artefacts.
  • Staying up-to-date on advancements: The field of AWS and arhitectural design is constantly evolving, so staying informed about the latest research and developments, latest releases on different models and their performances are crucial.


Essential Skills:

  • 12+ years of experience in developing complex data architecture (DA), providing expertise and resolving difficult problems in (DA) projects by analysing business needs and managing the quality of deliverables created.
  • Creating and maintaining documentation: Ensure clear and comprehensive documentation of Architectures.
  • Analyse systems and applications and provide recommendations for design, enhancement and development, and play an active part in their execution.
  • Data privacy and governance: Ensuring user data privacy and adhering to data governance regulations are paramount considerations for platform architecture.
  • Security integration:  Architects weave security best practices throughout the development lifecycle to safeguard the platform from vulnerabilities and data breaches.
  • Infrastructure management: They suggest best design principles to configure and manage the underlying infrastructure that supports the platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and high availability.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Strong understanding of marketing principles and best practices.
