Data Analytics Engineer

Key responsibilities of a Platform Analytics Engineer are to use analytical and statistical rigor to understand and solve complex problems - informing business decisions that will help us achieve our strategic goals. The role will primarily need to use SQL or PySpark to retrieve and analyze data from database tables (e.g. Redshift or Azure) and build metrics and subsequent bridges. The role requires working with multiple stakeholders both inside the Service Delivery and across other Maersk teams. As such, strong interpersonal skills are key for success in the role.

Responsibilities

• Use SQL or PySpark to extract data and build bridges linking key lead indicators/input metrics to key business metrics reflecting business outcomes
• Develop new and maintain/refine existing datasets and dashboards for key business and platform metrics. The end purpose is quantification of value generated to business P&L, capture key insights and input into prioritization decisions.
• Build curated datasets that allow for faster analysis that technical stakeholders may be able to utilize with more basic skills
• Be able to articulate key findings from the data and understand any biases in the approach.
• Understand business problems from lesser-technical users and be able to translate into technical requirements.
• Ability to prioritize own work and roadmap effectively and communicate blockers in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across different functions and teams to drive alignment on metric definition, data sources and data flow

What you bring

• Bachelors or master’s degree in engineering, preferably in computer science
• 10+ years’ work experience in Data engineering and/or Business Intelligence, working with big data to understand and solve business problems.
• Proven track record of success in product analytics and/or customer journey/behavioral analytics roles
• Strong analytical skills backed up with statistical knowledge gained either academically or through work experience.
• Experience in leading the development and adoption of state-of-the-art data and insights tools at an enterprise level
• Prior experience in consolidating and integrating data from multiple upstream data sources and platform systems
• Proficiency in SQL or PySpark
• Proficiency in working with Databricks ETL and Azure Databricks Notebooks.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex messages.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Independent and self-motivated with a desire for continuous learning.

• Background in a modern, technology-driven company.
• Experience working with ambiguous business problems.
