Pixxel is a space data company that develops a network of hyperspectral earth imaging satellites as well as the analytical tools to extract insights from the data.Pixxel is a space data company building a health monitor for our planet. We are doing that by deploying a constellation of some of the world's most advanced earth imaging satellites in lower earth orbit and an analytics platform (on ground) with tools that enable easy application of this data across a multitude of sectors. Our fully deployed constellation will be capable of beaming down daily imagery of any place on earth.
This role will contribute towards the development of Mission Operations Software that will be responsible for optimal tasking/scheduling of our satellite constellation. If you love working at the cutting edge of technology and want to contribute towards making the world a better place by bringing down the benefits of space down to earth, this is the place for you.

- Design, develop and maintain optimization framework (encompassing objective functions, operational constraints) interfacing with other in-house tools to generate an optimal tasking schedule for the Pixxel's satellite constellation
- Collaborate with business development and other satellite subsystem teams to effectively understand, collate and translate requirements into design specifications to maximize the revenue generation capability
- Implement design specifications into modular, scalable and maintainable math model as well as code
- Maintaining the existing models and framework used for satellite scheduling
- Work with the ground segment software team to deploy the models for day-to-day mission operations of the entire satellite constellation
- Take end-to-end ownership of the software development from design through implementation, testing and deployment

- Expertise in numerical optimization theory and techniques. Having experience of at least one (preferably multiple) mathematical optimization fields such as convex optimization, integer programming, dynamic programming and Heuristics (genetic algorithms, etc)
- Proficiency and Practical experience in one or multiple optimization libraries/software such as JuMP (Julia), Gurobi, CPLEX, Pymoo
- Strong programming skills in at least one high level programming language (Python/Julia/Java preferred)
- Ability to understand, break down, and solve complex problems independently
- Good communications skills (verbal and written), ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Nice-To-Have Skills:
- Mission design and orbit simulation experience using software tools (STK, FreeFlyer, Orekit, GMAT etc.) or custom software is preferred
- Experience with Deep Reinforcement Learning
