About the role
Integrating these technologies into a product and ensuring that we are delivering market leading performance to our customers is a challenging job, and one that takes specialist skills. That’s where the Technology Development team comes in.
The Technology Development team encompasses specialists who provides technical leadership in the fields of flow, thermal management, acoustic and vibration, structural dynamics and mechanics of materials broken up into teams defined as Product Performance, Acoustics, Technical Systems, Simulation and Principals.
Some of your tasks could include:
Work within a project team to deliver the best acoustic and vibration performance of new Dyson products, in line with the product vision.
- Drive designs forward and ensure correct decisions are made at all stages of the design process through experimental validation and other relevant analysis methods.
- Deliver concise and accurate analysis results at all times - these maybe as a result of a computational simulation, an experimental test, or statistical analysis.
- Demonstrate adhere to Dyson processes during project execution, including Dyson design cycle, milestone process, Product Life Management (Specification, FMEA, Problem Reports), key performance metrics.
- Ensure proper handover of projects, from UK to SEA, and from RDD to Operations.
- Communicate well with all stakeholders.
Proactively assess risks and solve problems impacting the product desired performance or customer satisfaction:
Identify, characterize, and highlight risk in a clear and concise manner.
- Find the mitigations of issue(s) through systematic and thorough analysis, present findings to the cross-functional team to drive towards timely and elegant solution.
Take ownership of career development and aim for progression into a Subject Matter Expert:
- Develop technical competencies by active involvement in projects, self-learning, and training.
- Drive technical excellence within organization, eg. promoting best practices of designs for best acoustic and vibration performance.
Actively challenge status quo and support continuous improvement initiatives in various aspect of business. Identify and develop new opportunities/tools/methods with the aim of enhancing the performance, reliability, and time to market of Dyson products.

About you
- Graduating by August 2024.
- At least a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Acoustic engineering or equivalent.
- A good working knowledge of acoustic engineering, mechanical vibration, signal processing, and statistical analysis.
- Experience on measurement hardware and software for data acquisition, such as B&K Pulse, HEAD Acoustics, MATLAB, and LabVIEW is preferred.
- Competent in the use and application of CAD/CAE tools in general.
- Experience in the UG and ANSYS suite of products is preferred.
- Ability to analyse and solve problem using established approach.
- Demonstrate ability to provide independent viewpoints/argument to a problem.
- Ability to plan and prioritise task, typically within a project.
- Able to identify technical risks within projects. Expected to suggest specific actions to mitigate risks. Able to contribute in FMEA sessions.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to receive constructive feedback and coaching and respond appropriately.
- Able to communicate ideas and concepts clearly.
- Able to work well in a team.
