We are looking for Director, Software Engineering to join our India leadership team in IP Content technology team. The person will be responsible for managing a section of the technology engineering team and help us build and maintain our platform and data infrastructure. This role seeks someone who is well rounded across all areas of technology, and particularly an expert with dealing and managing structured and unstructured data. You will be exposed to various areas within technology.

About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Atleast 15 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role with strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Experience with structured and unstructured data, including relational databases, NoSQL, data lakes, and distributed storage.
  • Strong knowledge of big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, or Scala with exposure to AWS or Azure Cloud.
  • Knowledge of varied source formats: XML, HTML, XSLT, Unicode, DTDs, XML Schema, XQuery, XPath, PDF, TIFF and similar formats
  • Experience in Agile Development (Scrum)
  • Knowledge of intellectual property (IP) would be advantageous.

It would be great if you also had…

  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
  • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and data visualization tools.
  • Experience in data warehousing , datalakes, and ETL tools.

What will you be doing in this role?

You will be responsible for,

  • Leading a team of Software and Data Engineers, providing guidance, training, and mentorship in designing, developing, and implementing data pipelines, data architecture, and data integration solutions.
  • Overseeing the design, maintenance, and control of systems to ensure quality, security, and integrity of data.  Design delivery of large-scale data structures and pipelines to organize, collect, and standardize data to generate insights and addresses reporting needs. 
  • Developing and implement data strategies to support business goals and initiatives.  Drive the collection, cleaning, processing, and analysis of new and existing data sources. 
  • Translating complex functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design.
  • Work closely with analysts and stakeholders to understand data needs and develop solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with data handling standards and regulations.
  • Act as a point of escalation for complex software and data issues and provide problem-solving solutions.
  • Anticipate and react to major industry and technology changes to ensure continued company leadership in this competitive landscape.

Hours of Work

This is a full-time opportunity with Clarivate. 9 hours per day including lunch break.
