Telesat is currently looking for Lab Technologist to join our growing team. The incumbent will work with engineers and other technicians to maintain lab processes, equipment calibration, and consumables. in addition, they will conduct routine maintenance of lab equipment, ensuring all tools and devices are clean and in proper working condition. 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain the labs physical and virtual infrastructure, including hosts, servers, and related components.
  • Manage and optimize virtual machine (VM) performance, resource allocation, and high availability.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot physical and VM infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and availability.
  • Perform VM snapshots, cloning, and template management.
  • Collaborate with storage and network teams to ensure seamless integration and performance of virtualized workloads.
  • Assist in the management and monitoring of network performance and availability across multiple sites.

Education & Experience Required

  • College degree with at least 5 years of experience as an electronics or RF lab technician or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with RF lab equipment, such as: vector network analyzer, signal generator, oscilloscope, power supplies, or multi meters.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms like, VMware, oVirt, Windows Hypervisor or similar is an asset.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills for working with highly integrated teams and documenting results.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) to collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey technical information clearly.
  • Comfortable communicating issues and trends to management and other groups at the appropriate level of detail.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and bring projects from initiation to completion.
  • Software development experience in Python and or Matlab is desirable.
  • Maintain technical competency and remain current on new technology and trends in the industry.
  • Flexible in a constantly evolving environment.
  • Strong willingness to be inquisitive, learn new things, ask questions when needed and apply new knowledge.
  • Desire to work in RF field and perform multiple functions associated with solving RF problems.
  • Must possess a valid Canadian driving record and valid Driving License.
The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP).
