Ready to make connectivity from space universally accessible, secure and actionable? Then you’ve come to the right place!
E-Space is bridging Earth and space to enable hyper-scaled deployments of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and services. We are building a highly-advanced low Earth orbit (LEO) space system that will fundamentally change the design, economics, manufacturing and service delivery associated with traditional satellite and terrestrial IoT systems.
We’re intentional, we’re unapologetically curious and we’re 100% committed to innovate space-based communications and deliver actionable intelligence that will expand global economies, protect space and our planet and enhance our overall quality of life.
As a Satellite Systems Simulations Engineer, you will be responsible for gathering system requirements and designing, modeling and simulating a LEO satellite constellation communication network. In this role, you will leverage your up to 10 years of expertise in satellite constellation system analysis, design, simulation to develop tools to optimally deploy a satellite network to maximize network KPIs including connectivity, throughput and latency. This position will report to the Sr. Direction of RF Systems Engineering and will work closely with systems, software, hardware and test teams that are responsible for delivering the communications payload.  This position is based in our Saratoga, CA office.

What you will do

  • Create high-fidelity models simulating the operation of the satellite constellation network.
  • Understand system requirements in depth, derive subsystem requirements and drive design and test plans using modeling and simulation results.
  • Develop algorithms for efficient operation of the network including capacity planning, throughput allocation, fault-recovery, and network routing.
  • Set KPI targets for network deployment and build tools to extract these KPIs from the deployed network to compare against the simulated model.
  • Work with the business team to model various business use-cases and evaluate their viability.
  • Produce documents guiding present and future development efforts.
  • Work as part of the Systems team to come up with a congruent and deployable network architecture and design.

What you bring to this role

  • MS or PhD in CS/Physics/Math/Science/Engineering or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in modeling satellite systems
  • Proficiency in simulation tools like MATLAB, Python, C/C++ or specialized satellite network modelling software.
  • Strong knowledge of classical dynamics, orbital mechanics, and modeling physical systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving with a from-first-principles approach.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.  Team player.

Bonus points for the following

  • Experience with RF system development and operation.
  • Solid math and physics fundamentals.
  • Some knowledge of wireless networks, preferably LTE or 5GNR.
  • Strong skills in analyzing large data sets, performance optimization and analytical approach to problem solving.
We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used—so we’re looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities. If that’s your experience – then we’ll be immediately wow-ed.
