Overview

The Hybrid Data Architects/Engineers will provide Data Warehouse Architect/Engineer services to serve
as the primary resource(s) responsible for designing and building a data warehouse solution and working
with conventional data warehouse technologies to devise plans that support designing data warehouse
solutions.

Work Schedule

  • Hybrid Model:
    • Remote: Two (2) days per week at a suitable off-site location selected by the candidate.
    • On-site: Three (3) days per week at 189 Harry S Truman Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
  • Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Eastern Standard Time (EDT).

Responsibilities

  • Data Warehouse and ETL Design:
    • Participate in designing, creating, and specifying data warehouse and ETL processes.
    • Develop source data models and logical data warehouse designs.
    • Collaborate with the platform administration team to design ETL processes.
    • Document system requirements, manage development, and facilitate knowledge transfer.
    • Assist in developing and implementing ETL tools, and conduct testing.
  • Data Warehouse Development:
    • Develop effective data warehouse models based on functional analytic, reporting, and bulk data requirements.
    • Assist platform administration in creating physical data warehouse designs considering data quality and operational efficiency.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Work with business and technology stakeholders to ensure effective data warehouse architecture development and utilization.
    • Ensure all work complies with regulatory standards to protect sensitive data.
  • Reporting:
    • Provide weekly progress reports on programs and projects.
    • Communicate project status and progress.
    • Submit weekly time reports and additional reports as assigned.

Requirements

Skills and Experience

  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong database and analytical skills.
    • Proficiency in querying source data and working with ETL tools.
    • Knowledge of Visual Studio, XML, SQL, and scripting languages such as Python.
    • Ability to automate tasks in Azure.
  • Analytical and Consultative Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
    • Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
    • Ability to evaluate, learn, and prototype new technologies quickly.
  • Experience (10+ years):
    • BI best practices, relational structures, dimensional data modeling, and reporting techniques.
    • Dimensional modeling, STAR and Snowflake schema design, and data normalization.
    • Designing and implementing BI solutions, including performance monitoring and data integrity.
    • Developing database models and schemes for efficient data storage and analysis.
    • Ensuring data quality and performing ETL procedures.
    • Using version control systems for maintaining data warehouse architecture codes.
    • Advanced experience with SQL Server 2016 or above, Azure Data Factory, SSIS, and stored procedures.
    • Proficiency in tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Azure Synapse, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and One Lake.
