THE ROLE AND THE TEAM

As a Senior Product Manager you will be responsible for defining and driving the future of data pipeline capabilities. In the central data infrastructure team we mostly enable data transformation and pipeline orchestration through Databricks, managed workflow for Apache Airflow) and employing a data lake and the data mesh concept to democratise petabytes of Zalando’s data. Our goal is to enable our colleagues to create value from data fast. 

Together with two engineering teams, you will build customer centric, scalable and efficient Data infrastructure products making Zalando’s data accessible and impactful to all our internal users. Strong analytical skills and stakeholder management are key success factors for this role. 

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

  • Improve data pipeline experience by discovering new product opportunities with a customer-centric mindset, business savvy and performant execution

  • Drive product development by setting a clear vision and roadmap to achieve ambitious targets supported by data

  • Facilitate decision making by writing carefully crafted narrative documents which clearly communicate the rationale in an easily digestible and professional manner.

  • Analyze and explain problems, propose solutions with their pros and cons

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

  • You are experienced in solving complex problems (problem and solution execution range from 1-2 years1-2years), collaborating with a team of data and software engineers and cross-functional partners to build products
  • Are a natural problem-solver, with a strong history of leading product discovery, solving meaningful customer and business problems, and delivering scalable solutions.

  • Have the ability to create a strong product vision and translate that vision for any audience, through well-crafted strategic documents, thorough requirements, and clear communication with stakeholders

  • Have an analytical mind, with the expertise to evaluate data, draw insights to make informed product decisions by defining success criteria and measuring impact of the product

  • Have a background in data infrastructure and data integration and getting excited about working with technical users as customers

  • Act as the product evangelist for data and data platform products, both internally and externally.
