Job Summary

The Data Architect provides analysis, design, and leadership related to the development of data solutions that support the business of a data-driven organization. They collaborate with the agile product management team, project management, and other leadership from one or more teams to guide the evolution of data solutions. They collaborate with system, domain, and enterprise architecture to assure that the solutions they develop are aligned with broader architectural direction. They utilize critical thinking, analysis, communication, and influence skills to develop and ensure data architecture is in alignment with business goals and enterprise architecture. They exhibit high proficiency in logical and physical data modeling along with a deep understanding of underlying database structures and capabilities. The data architect is expected to have/develop highly proficient business acumen and domain-specific data knowledge.

Essential Functions

  • Translates business analytics problems into data frameworks and blueprints that data engineers can follow and execute across multiple domains.
  • Analyzes structured and unstructured data to drive prototype ideas for new tools and products. Designs, prototypes, and implements on-prem and cloud-based data solutions.
  • Develops standards and guidelines around code development, test strategies and naming conventions across data assets. Assists in selecting data management tools and developing the standards, usage guidelines, and procedures for using those tools.
  • Develops and presents data strategies to IT and Business Executives.
  • Optimizes legacy data models and re-engineers legacy frameworks. Highly proficient in tuning databases and ETL code for optimal performance.
  • Helps to create and sustain a Data Engineering Community of Practice and mentors other team members on documentation and solution development aligned with overall data strategy. Guides data engineers as they build and test new systems per specifications.
  • Understands and abides by the project management and solution development methodologies. Maintains industry leading technical skills and expertise through education and training.
  • Highly organized with good time management skills, customer-service orientation, and strong interpersonal and presentations skills. Analytical thinker with creative problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
  • Understands and creates complex data models, structures, and data processing.
  • Pays attention to data quality and data lifecycle.
  • Helps data engineers with code optimization and high-performance computing.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • 4+ years of related experience
  • Software, system or technology engineering experience at the highest level of proficiency
  • Familiarity with Corporate data sources such as Human Capital, Cost Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain etc.
  • Experience with Cloud platform architecture
  • Experience with Data Modeling and Warehousing
  • Experience with Oracle (PL/SQL) and MS SQL Server (TSQL) platforms
  • Experience with ETL/ELT Tools (SSIS, Informatica, SAP DS, Alteryx, Qlik Replicate etc.)
  • Experience with Shell Scripting
  • Experience with developing Technical Standards

Preferred

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent
  • 7+ years of related experience
  • Experience with SDLC and technology implementation
  • Experience in Healthcare sector (3+ years) with Healthcare EMR's and datasets
  • Experience with Snowflake (or similar) along with its security and interoperability feature
  • Familiarity with Epic and Clarity/Caboodle data models
