Rystad Energy seeks an enthusiastic and skillful data analyst with strong data scraping and process skills to join our Renewables & Power Analyst Team in Asia-Pacific. We are constantly improving and expanding our products within the renewables & power domain, and this new role will be an integral piece of this ongoing development. The foundation of our products is a high volume of factual data combined with sophisticated in-house data management systems and forecasting tools used to model market pricing mechanisms. This role will be focused on European data and products.

Possible Tasks

  • Develop, maintain and optimize the collection and cleaning of power data, using web crawlers where appropriate
  • Data mining and integration of the data structures into the architecture used across the company
  • Use internal and external data to develop models and simulators of physical and economic systems for use in internal products (e.g. long-term pricing & power mix)
  • Create and maintain Power BI dashboards for internal and external analysis
  • Contribute to the continued development of some of Rystad Energy’s Cube products.
  • Communicate results internally and support our external customers; translate client’s strategic thinking into actionable goals together with Product Managers and Analysts
  • Support our regional analysts and sales teams with ad-hoc analysis and modelling tasks
  • Occasional support with consulting projects

Requirements

We are looking for a motivated candidate with a solid academic track record, an analytical mindset and software development skills to strengthen our capacity within in-house modeling.

  • University degree (Master or Bachelor) in engineering, information technology, mathematics, physics or similar
  • Experience with and/or a strong interest in developing numerical models/algorithms to describe processes within science, economy, markets or other process-oriented fields
  • An interest in taking ownership for and delivering value through data analytics and modelling
  • Experience of programming in Python, or similar language
  • Strong collaborative skills
  • Proactive, open-minded and creative
  • Good English skills, both verbal and written

Nice to have:

  • Energy sector knowledge and understanding
  • Experience with version control, such as git
  • Knowledge of database design and SQL programming
  • Experience or interest in web crawling & scraping
  • Experience with scientific programming
