The role sits within the UK Chief Data Office Operations function and will report into the Head of CDO Operations.  The role works in a matrix organisation with strategy for Data Governance sitting within Head of Data Governance and Frameworks within D&A

The Data Governance Senior Analyst will play a key part in the execution of our data governance framework, supporting our regulatory obligation/governance and embedding our policies and standards. They will also support the cloud transformation programme and support the evolution of data governance activities to a transformed state.

The position is an essential component of Equifax’s journey to deliver a renewed Chief Data Office as part of a business transformation that sits in parallel to our ambitious cloud migration programme.

What you’ll do

  • Data Governance

    • Data Inventory - enhance, maintain, manage & document procedures. manage 2 releases annually, provide SME support to BAU queries & client audits. Work with the DPO to ensure the ROPA is populated accurately. Collaborate with Data SMEs, Stewards and Product Owners to ensure the Data Inventory is kept up to date.

    • Manage & document Data Governance procedures and processes.

    • Manage the metadata Equifax are holding the overview of suppliers, 3rd parties and business partners 

    • Internal representation on a number of BAU forums/activities providing Data Governance SME input to influence decisions. 

    • To actively promote awareness of the Data Governance team and the Chief Data Office across the Equifax businesses.

    • Lead and manage Data Governance input into company wide projects to the required quality standards and project timescales, liaising with key stakeholders.

    • Establish and implement processes and procedures for the flow of data (Data Flow Maps) through the business and key milestones.  Lead meetings and discussions to understand and document processes and systems and being able to map the end to end data journey.

    • Plan and coordinate the Retention and Minimisation Working Groups with senior business managers requiring their input and approval into the processes.

    • Manage the existing Data Retention Change Approval process interacting with key stakeholders across the business for any new/changes to retention periods providing visibility of decisions made to assist implementing data retention.

    • Liaising with the DPO team to ensure that any data assets where retention is not currently in place are identified and are managed accordingly into IT via the Data Retention Group and Data Council.

    • Develop constructive and effective working relationships with all key stakeholders, including DPO, Compliance, Cegal, D&A, Data teams, Operations, Security, Product, Marketing, IT, business owners and US/International Enterprise and Data Governance teams.

    • Provide progress reports to senior business stakeholders and data owners.

  • Collibra

    • Collibra Metadata Tool - manage IT relationship for ensuring the correct metadata is captured; that all naming standards and requirements are identified for the Transformation project and set up approval processes for BAU approvals within Collibra. 

    • Support CDO activities identifying future uses for Collibra.

  • Transformation

    • Produce requirements for eventual transition and migration of the Data inventory into Collibra and phased approach plan.

    • Provide Data Governance consultancy into any Transformation projects within the business where data is impacted.

  • Transformation - manage the pre-requisite Transformation/Collibra domain/subdomain naming process, liaising with the key business stakeholders and IT ensuring approval is obtained and ratified by the Data Council allowing IT to complete the builds.

What experience you need

  • Working experience within a data led organisation supporting business analysis responsibilities in a Data Governance role

  • Working experience audit & compliance programmes

  • Experience of client relationship management

  • Experience of business analysis / report generation

  • Working at multiple levels in an organisation facilitating successful delivery of projects

  • A strong executor who is able to work with levels of uncertainty 

  • Collaborative and consultative style

  • relevant industry experience
