The Modeller will work cross-modality, integrated directly on projects, to deliver advanced modeling approaches to accelerate development, increase fundamental understanding, improve risk assessment and deliver more robust processes, products and regulatory filings. This includes the application of mechanistic, data driven and hybrid modelling in process design, control strategy identification and advanced process monitoring & control for Drug Product processes. 

In this role, YOU will..

  • Use mechanistic, data driven and hybrid modelling to efficiently deliver priority team objectives including but not limited to process design, quantitative risk assessment, identification of Critical Process Parameters, design space definition, and implementation of advanced model based process monitoring and controls.

  • Use engineering, chemical or materials science knowledge to postulate mechanisms for physiochemical processes and develop or modify existing mathematical models to describes those mechanisms. 

  • Translate mathematical models to computer models using software platforms (e.g. gPROMS, Aspen, ANSYS Fluent) or by writing custom programs (Using Matlab, Python, C++ etc.)

  • Develop and maintain key system modeling platforms.  Leverage external expertise and funding through pre-competitive alliances (e.g. System based Pharmaceutics)

  • Work closely with the QbD, Regulatory and other experts to integrate modeling (Simulation) into QbD process development.

  • Work closely with Statistical Sciences to develop the best in-silico experimental design and to engage them to assess model uncertainty and model predictive confidence limits.

  • Stay current with new modeling techniques through publications, conferences and academic and precompetitive collaborations

  • Advocate and comply with GMP requirements for recording experiments and associated data and writing modeling sports including scientific review and data checking.

Why You?

Basic Qualifications:

  • M.S. or PhD in Chemical Engineering/ Physical Chemistry or equivalent experience with an emphasis on development and implementation of mechanistic mathematical models

  • Ability to translate mathematical models into computer programs using Matlab, Python or similar software tools.

  • An understanding of statistical science and related software tools that enable sound experimental design and interpretation of models.

  • Experience with CFD software such as ANSYS FLUENT, OPENFOAM, STAR-CCM+ or flow sheet modelling software such as Aspen or gPROMS.

  • Understands and complies with GMP requirements including; data integrity and model validation / maintenance.

  • English proficiency (written and spoken)

  • Good interpersonal, organizational and communications skills

  • Ability to multi-task and manage workload independently.

  • Ability to work within a team and communicate effectively
