What you'll be doing

You’ll be joining CIBC’s Enterprise Risk Technology within Financial Crimes & Enterprise Risk Technology division. You’ll be at the heart of CIBC’s digital transformation, successfully delivering complex, enterprise-scale projects involving multiple data warehouse systems.  You’ll lead the planning and strategy for the technical design, development and integration of these applications. The Consultant, Application Development is responsible for leading the technical design, development and integration of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems and provide enhancements to existing technologies. The role works on complex issues involving one or more technical areas, mentoring employees and performing tasks of advanced technical depth and breadth. The Consultant, Application Development collaborates with developers, architects and infrastructure specialists to gather requirements and conduct research to evaluate the application of new and emerging tools and techniques, identifying patterns and best practices to consider in technology proposals while anticipating long term business issues. The role devises new methods and procedures using strong analytic and inductive thinking, developing project plans based on appropriate standards and methodology. The position includes production support on a rotation basis. Every third month the successful candidate would need to monitor production jobs and troubleshoot issues. This work often includes late hours and work on the weekends especially in the first two weeks, but not limited to that part of the month.

How you'll succeed

• Design and development - Perform and coordinate complicated application programming activities. Design the application's technical infrastructure using specific databases, programming languages, utilities, and testing approaches. Lead the design and development of cost-effective and innovative solutions. 
• Strategic planning - Develop multi-year technology roadmaps that align with the bank’s vision, strategy, and business goals. Lead multiple complicated projects involving backend systems, new technology, and the enhancement of existing applications.
• Leadership skills - Act as the development team lead and run code-review sessions with the wider team to ensure the project is on track to meet goals. Support and mentor intermediate and senior developers by sharing knowledge, collaborating and problem solving.

Who you are

• You can demonstrate 3+ years of experience in:   Azure Databricks, Data Warehousing, Java, Hadoop, Map Reduce, Hive, Impala, Spark, SQL, SAS, Netezza, Oracle, Mainframe, Web Services, XML, and GIT. A strong asset if you have experience with Informatica.
