The Opportunity

“FICO is seeking an Application Security Engineer to join our growing Information Security Office. This is a full-time regular position, and a great opportunity for an individual with strong web development skills or great interest in security that would like to move into the exciting field of application security." - Hiring Manager.

What You’ll Contribute

• Ensure software developed is secure by conducting application security/vulnerability assessment.
• Ability to understand business requirements and apply security to all stages of application development following secure-by-design principles.
• Perform hands on security testing of products and services to proactively identify security defects and vulnerabilities.
• Conduct risk analysis of security defects and vulnerabilities to ensure risk is managed without any adverse impact to FICO and its customers. 
• Perform validation of security controls in adherence to compliance policies and industry best practices.
• Understand, balance, and communicate business risk with security risk.
• Act as a SME within Product Security team to lead improvement initiatives and to mentor and coach other team members.
• Work with developers to build/maintain security features and encourage them to follow secure architectural, design, development and implementation choices.
• Provide guidance to security champions within development teams to delegate and manage security responsibilities with high quality.
• Collaborate with engineers, consultants, and leadership to address security risks and provide mitigation recommendations within the SDLC.
• High level of personal integrity, with the ability to professionally handle confidential matters, and reflect appropriate level of judgment as it pertains to security.

What We’re Seeking

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related streams.
• Hands-on experience as application security engineer or a software developer.
• Hands-on experience in application security defect and vulnerability assessment.
• Hands-on experience in static application code reviews and software composition analysis.
• Hands-on experience in securing container images and web applications.
• Good understanding of enterprise level application architectures and secure development methodologies.
• Good understanding of OWASP top 10 and CWE top 25 issues.
• Software development experience in languages like Java, C/C++,C Sharp, Python etc., would be added advantage.
• Good understanding of containerization technologies like docker and Kubernetes is an advantage.
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies and tools like JIRA, GitHub, Bit Bucket, Confluence etc.,
