We are looking for a strong Data Analyst with Business Intelligence Systems experience to plan, design and develop data system workflows and tools that support WTW’s consulting colleagues in delivering compensation review projects. You will analyze the needs of the business, strategize and design a plan to meet the specified needs, then execute the plan, including creating Excel templates, data visualizations and creating an end-to-end data flow strategy. This is a highly collaborative position and you’ll work with business, development and testing team members across multiple geographies.

The Role

Key Accountabilities / Duties: 

  • Develop and manage effective working relationships with other departments, groups and personnel with whom work must be coordinated or interfaced
  • Gather and document functional and technical requirements, and translate requirements into workflow solutions, analytic tools, and build the digital templates to be used internally to support advisory projects.
  • Develop in-depth understanding of underlying data, data structures, and business uses of data
  • Develop expertise in the business operations and how data supports those operations in order to provide the most effective business intelligence solutions possible
  • Identify gaps in data collection, the data model, and meta data for future enhancements
  • Create simple to complex data, reporting, and business intelligence solutions by utilizing existing reporting, analytics and business intelligence platforms
  • Comply with standards, best practices, and policies defined for the team
  • Provide support as required to ensure the availability and optimized performance of developed business intelligence applications and reports
  • Write high quality code to store, retrieve, analyze and present the data as tables and visually
  • Work with WTW colleagues to write and execute comprehensive test plans that validate the accuracy of information and functionality to ensure delivery of the solutions.

 

The Requirements

  • 1-3 years direct work experience developing business focused data workflows and business templates using tools as well as building necessary SQL data objects.
  • 1-3 years direct work experience with Data Warehouse and related technologies such Microsoft SSIS, SQL, ETL, and OLAP data structures.
  • 2+ years direct work experience using any of the BI tools: Dundas BI, Tableau, Spotfire, Microsoft PowerBI,  PowerPivot or Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). 
  • 1-3 years SQL development experience. Demonstrated experience creating, debugging, and modifying complex stored procedures and views, as well as querying and updating data using SQL.
  • Experience with production support and troubleshooting common report / data process issues.
  • Familiar with fact / dimension data modeling, and validating results of data transformation processes.
  • Exposure to extracting data from enterprise level system, such as BI, CRMs, HRIS, or ERP a plus.
  • Understands software development methodologies and best practices as it pertains to database and report development, to include reviewing and testing deliverables.
  • Ability to document technical requirements for business processes and development needs.
  • Ability to create presentation-ready visuals, mock-ups, charts, graphs and summary reports in tight timeframes.
  • Ability to organize time to meet project timelines and effectively find solutions to common business intelligence problems with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with team members and decision makers across the business.
  • Ability to develop and explain analytics needed by the business for decision making.
  • Willingness to tackle complex projects to successful completion and to learn new technologies.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft productivity tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, as well as willingness to learn approved third-party solutions.
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential, as well as having strong interpersonal skills
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with a global team

Other desirable skills:

  • Excel (expert level)
  • SQL Database and PowerBI analytics and data visualizations
  • Experience with web development and Powershell scripting

  • Exposure to SSAS (Tabular and multidimensional solutions) 

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that base salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance in the role and potential for revenue generation (Producer roles only).
