Overview of the role:
As a Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining our next-generation data platform, leveraging new technologies and techniques to maximize the business value out of our data assets. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data availability, quality, and reliability. You will be delivering solutions applying your knowledge in cloud computing, infrastructure as code (IaC), Python programming, CI/CD, and Agile methodologies to driving our data initiatives forward.
What you’ll do:
As a part of this role, you are expected to contribute to choosing the right technology and ensuring proper data design and implementation in various projects and solutions. You are also expected to demonstrate hands-on skills in ingesting and processing large data sets, demonstrate expertise in data structure and big data access patterns on AWS Cloud. This is an Individual Contributor role where you are expected to be a great team player who takes pride in delivering high quality solutions.
What you’ll bring:
Essential qualifications:
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in designing and implementing efficient ETL processes and data pipelines to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources into data warehouses or data lakes.
- Experience in designing and building generic data ingestion and processing frameworks (both batch and Streaming) and data modelling.
- Experience in identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks in data pipelines and queries to meet performance requirements.
- Experience with CI/CD platforms and pipeline deployments patterns (Jenkins, Shell Scripting, Unit / Integration Testing)
- Experience with AWS technologies (particularly S3, DynamoDB, Glue, Athena, EMR, Redshift, Lambda, Kinesis, MSK, Airflow).
- Experience developing software in Python (PySpark / Spark SQL)/Java, using Databricks as a query/analytical tool.
- Knowledge to utilize IaaC principles to provision and manage cloud-based resources and infrastructure, ensuring scalability and cost-effectiveness.
- Knowledge about Data Governance and concepts like metadata, data catalogues, data retention, disaster recovery and ways to implement data quality checks and data validation checks to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
- Knowledge about building shared libraries and distributing software as packages/binaries.
- Knowledge about setting up monitoring, alerting, and logging systems to proactively identify and address data-related issues.
- Familiarity with Agile software development and SDLC best practices.
- Ability to collaborate with technical and business teams and communicate effectively across channels.
Desirable qualifications:
- 4+ years’ experience preferable.
- Exposure to Data Security standards and practices like GDPR will be helpful.
- Exposure to Networking standards and practices will be a good to have.
- Exposure to building and delivering API based solutions will be a good to have.
- Exposure to containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
