Senior Software Engineer, Cloud

The Cloud Services team is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to work on a wide variety of projects, from data visualization tools that help our teams understand and improve robot performance to event-based systems relaying tasks and status updates between our robots and the cloud. We’re looking for an engineer with strong experience working on data-intensive cloud services who’s also comfortable contributing to our internal-facing web tools and eager to pick up new technologies.

What you’ll do:

• Build backend interfaces to accept tasks from third party systems and distribute them to connected robots, enabling a customer’s fleet to efficiently and collaboratively load and unload trailers
• Develop a flexible and fault-tolerant log upload system to ensure the most valuable data collected by our robots is uploaded to the cloud for analysis
• Design and implement 3D visualizations of log data collected from the robots to help autonomy engineers and our Robot Operations Center understand and improve performance
• Contribute to the entire software development lifecycle, from design through deployment
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure the features you implement meet current requirements and scale to support future customer requests
• Help less experienced engineers grow their skills through coaching, code reviews, and pair programming
• Participate in sprint activities, from writing stories for prioritization through suggesting improvements in retrospectives

What you’ll need: 

• At least 5 years of industry experience developing production software in Python or a similar language
• Experience with REST APIs, MQTT (or PubSub in general), and Google Cloud (or another cloud provider)
• Strong technical and non-technical communication skills for collaborating effectively with remote employees as well as those in the office
• A passion for sustainable development practices and leaving code in a better state than you found it

Nice to have:  

• Familiarity with TypeScript, MongoDB, OAuth, React, or three.js
• Experience with robotics, IoT environments, or Warehouse Management Systems
