Pixxel is a space data company building the health monitor for our planet. We are doing that by building a constellation of some of the world’s most advanced earth imaging satellites and the analytics platform that will enable easy application of that data across a multitude of sectors. The fully deployed constellation will be capable of beaming down high quality imagery of every place on earth every day. This role will contribute towards developing, training and delivering deep learning models and tools to extract various features and value added services using multi-dimensional satellite imagery.

Details on the role:


Responsibilities

  1. Build use-cases and create innovative insights from the remote sensing imagery data to solve the real world problems.
  2. Research and develop scalable analytical models and algorithms for remote sensing data analysis and physical property retrievals.
  3. Work with data from Pixxel’s constellation of hyperspectral satellites.
  4. Mentor and provide technical guidance to team members.


Skills/Requirements (essential)

  1. Masters or PhD in Remote sensing, geosciences, or other related physical science or engineering field, with 8 or more years of experience.
  2. Prior experience developing remote sensing models for optical, SAR, or thermal data, especially in use cases with limited available ground truth data.
  3. Hands-on experience in working with Python, GIS tools, and writing maintainable, well-documented and high-quality code.
  4. Ability to independently manage a project and deliver high quality results.
  5. Sound understanding of deep learning, image processing, and remote sensing concepts.
  6. Experience in handling satellite imagery and other geospatial datasets.
  7. Experience managing research projects
  8. Strong communication and presentation skills and experience working with collaborative teams.

Skills/Requirements (optional)

  1. Experience working with Hyperspectral data from airborne or spaceborne sensors.
  2. Experience building data science pipelines.
  3. Experience managing research teams.
  4. Hands-on experience working with large datasets.
  5. Experience publishing papers in peer-reviewed journals and presenting work at technical conferences.
